I buy blocks of wood off ebay and 99% of the time it's covered in wax for some reason. I guess it's to keep it from drying out too much and cracking and splitting but anyway it is a pain in the butt!
How do you remove it cleanly from the pores of the wood?
Sanding won't work and scraping just removes the surface. I was thinking about putting it in the oven around 150 for a couple hours but figured I'd ask you folks first.
So, lemme know what you guys do or think about the subject and I be a happy camper! :D

Most wood that is totally covered with wax is turning wood.It is much too wet for knife handles or scales. The wax can be scrapped off the sides and mineral spritis used to remove whats left. Then it need a good period to dry.

I just lost a set of scale bought on Ebay ,removed the wax sanded the side to be glued to the blade when I went to work on it the next day it had curled up its toes in both directions.
