Well, I recently traded dfarmer for one of his small fixed blades, and I must say, I love it! I got it this morning, and was very impressed with it. It is a flat ground o1 steel with blue/creme g10 handle. It came with a leather pouch sheath. The blade was very sharp, and being as every knife I get, i reprofile it (to make future touch ups for me easier), this one to 40 inclusive, and the edge geometry was absolutely perfect. It is my first blade from a custom maker, and It may not be my last from dfarmer. The trade was very easy, and a great guy to do business with. I got this for primary edc, and I wanted a knife that could last, and I think this could be it. I do have a few questions however.

What exactly is o1 steel, I know its a carbon steel, but where does it rate with other carbon steels?

Also, I want to carry this thing tomorrow, but I prefer in pocket sheath with maybe a clip, anyone have any cheap fast ideas before making a kydex one?

Thanks!
-Kirko

I think this may be a better fit over in the Custom & Handmade Knives forum...

congrats on the new knife.. Dave makes some of the sharpest knives i have used/owned.. he's a great guy to work with too...

O1 is a high carbon steel.. i wouldn't put the knife in the dishwasher either.. wash it by hand and the dry it off thouroughly.. oil it regulalrly after use too..

FYI, NO decent knife is dishwasher safe. O1 is good stuff, but not even remotely stainless. Keep it wiped down.
