Ever since I joined BF I’ve always admired Don Hanson’s work. I got on his list a while back and after pestering him about various slip joint patterns over the years he made me this 3.5 closed English jack, which came in the mail today.

I would love to get one of Don’s more elaborate damascus slip joints some day, but this time I wanted a small folder to carry. This has Don’s W2 steel on the blade and spring and 410 stainless on the bolsters and pins. The scales are bark elephant ivory.

Don nailed the fit and finish, the blade is spot on in all three positions (closed, half stop, open) and it has a great edge. Thanks Don!

Very classy.. What is the significance of the fish stamped on the tang? Does he use that instead of putting his name on, or is that on the other side ?

Really a great knife, Don nailed that one, Congrats to the box man and to Don,
A job well done!!!!
Jim

That looks like a great little knife! Congratulations!

Great knife, Mike! Now you've made me antsy for when my name comes up on Don's list!

Use it in good health. (And big props to Don for another excellent knife.)

Hard to beat that one Mike. Don is a true Knife maker in all aspects. I have a few of his knives.

congrats on yours...

Thats gorgeous. Take care of it and enjoy using it.

Elephant ivory with the cracks is some of my favorite handle material so I am slightly envious! :)

The fish is his logo and he uses that instead of his name. He's a big fisherman.

That's a stunning piece Mike. I love the elegant simplicity of the lines and components. Congratulations on that fine acquisition amigo.

The maker's mark rocks!

More of that incredible bark ivory, on a very nice pattern!! Just send it to me Mike! You've already got a pilfer-proof box:eek:! I'll send it back!!some day.
Honest I will:cool:!
