DH3 ivory jack

Yeah, Mike was a real pain in the......;):p:D

Seriously, it was a pleasure working with you, Mike. Thank you!

Thanks for the good words, folks! This is one I would have liked to drop in my pocket.

Don, About your Mark isn't it true you were called the Sunfish Man because of the many Sunfish Pattern Knives you made, both slip, linerlock and auto? at least that's what I remember 10 or 12 years back...

Don's stuff always looks wonderful. You're lucky to get one of his masterpieces. CONGRATULATIONS!:cool:

What a way to start the New Year, Mike! Really like everything about that jack. Great work by a great maker for a great guy. Perfect front pocket carry size.

Congratulations!

Beautiful knife in every respect. I feel fortunate in having the chance to get to know Don a little over the years. I really have never seen a knife of his I did not like, but I am not sure which I enjoy more; his work or the actual person.

That is correct, Sir. I made a bunch of Sunfish/Elephant toe folders years ago.
But I also live to fish and love catching Bluegill and other members of the Sunfish family :D

I met Don at Blade last year and enjoyed speaking to him as some of his customers picked up knives or selected handle material.

Here's the picture Don sent me that led to me picking the jack.

Another forum member here has the Damascuse and ivory one in the picture. :)

Now that I've had time to play with the knife more, I really like the blade tension. Glides open easily to a half stop and then snaps firmly in place when it's all the way open.

It's also nice and light. Anyway thanks for all of the comments on Don's work, and again to Don. Enjoy them sunfish.

Don & all,The blade is awesome on this knife.I love it.The whole set up is a perfect carry slipjoint
Don,is it flat ground or hollow ground ?

Thanks Don for your reply. Man that's a nice string of fish. Makes me wish for spring...

I have one of Don's folding daggers. It is one of the most beautiful knives that I own, and the interactions with Don were nothing but pleasure.

I have every intention of ordering another knife from Don-- and of course, it will have to be a slip joint. Seeing that jack just whets the appetite. What a beauty!!

Shaldag, I remember that dagger, it's a fav of mine :)

Thanks Don for your reply. Man that's a nice string of fish. Makes me wish for spring...

D., spring could not get here soon enough for me!
There are fish out there that need to be caught :D

Thanks all !

You guys are making me so hungry for fish. I would love to see that dagger if there is a pic.

Were the hidden pins/screws on the bolsters by request? Also curious if the pins are in the handle for a more traditional look..?

Jonathan,
I seem to recall a thread about Don's folding daggers in the Customs subforum. (He has made a number of them--in my opinion, all beautiful, but none so nice as mine. :D).

If you go to his website, in the gallery section, you can see a number of the daggers. Mine is on the first page, third row, third from left.

That's Beautiful, Mikey! One of these days I hope to get one from Don. Thanks for the looksee!

Wow, that handle material is incredible. Customs knives are just gorgeous, I am still in a production world, but maybe someday.....
