D'HOLDER CUSTOM COMBAT BOWIE - ONLY ONE KNOWN TO EXIST
A military-style combat bowie by D'holder is unheard of. My fellow collectors and I had never known one to exist until this one appeared.
According to emails from D'holder, he only made about five military combat knives in his 42 year knifemaking career, each one a special order. This one was made 1990-1991 (persian gulf war) as a special order and bears his Phoenix, Arizona maker's mark. Again, the only one known to now exist.
The handle is laminated black maple and because of it's highly textured nature, affords a firm and secure grip in extreme conditions. The blade, of ATS-34 stainless steel, is a whopping 10" long, with overall length of 14 3/4". D' describes it as an indestructible knife. It's length makes it ideal for any extreme task, including major chopping - yet it is well-balanced in the hand.
Guard and buttcap are nickel silver and all metal parts including the blade are fully beadblasted (even rarer for any D'holder).
This is the sharpest D'holder i have ever come across, really scary sharp. Condition is mint, with two or three minor smudges, typical of beadblast finishes.
$1950 shipped (Conus only) - add 3% for Paypal, pay with USPS money order - questions to rbetznerr@sbcglobal.net
This particular order, according to D', included a kydex belt sheath, made from scratch by D'holder. It is perfectly formed to the blade and bears D'holder's signature on the reverse. The sheath is included with the knife, and is one of only two kydex sheaths ever made by D'holder. The sheath is nothing fancy, described by D'Holder as the ugliest sheath he ever made - and it is, indeed, BUTT ugly.
I personally sold this highly collectible D'Holder for $2540 about 1 1/2 years ago, only to take it back about five months ago for MUCH less in a trade. This shows you what has happened to the value of some collectible knives!
I STOPPED COLLECTING D'HOLDERS A COUPLE YEARS AGO AND WANT TO GET RID OF THIS KNIFE. REASONABLE TRADES, ETC CONSIDERED.
