Happiness is a Dia Chirra. I just ordered the copy of Berkley's kuk. I have never been called to by any other object like that blade. It has become a cherished object allready. It must be the fever

I know the feeling. When I get rich, that's one of the first things I'm going to buy.

I would like to take both of them. Greed is good too! That would be a beautiful kuk with an ivory handle.

If you're out there Berkley what is the history on your kuk?
The original is a 19th century military khukuri, which I was fortunate to win on eBay several years ago. It came from Canada, where quite a few relics of Empire wound up, but has no provenance beyond the seller. I think it is the loveliest khukuri I have ever seen, and the BirGorkha version is the second loveliest!

Berkley, is there a picture of your khuk posted anywhere?

Ben, it's in the archives here

Beautiful blade. I have one of the repros and it is my favorite.

BTW, I got a buttcap on that M43 I bought from you. The handle is just big enough for my little wimpy hand.

Steve, from what did you make the buttcap? How does it look? How has the blade, as a whole, work for you? I hope you like it. I loved the look, but it was obvious when I held it that it wasn't made for me to keep.

I had some 1/16" 304 stainless steel. The reason the original buttcap probably broke off is that the tang is too hard. The Kami must have spilled some water on it when hardening the blade. I was able to get the buttcap peened on just a little, but I'm depending on epoxy to do most of the holding. In peening it, I got some hammer tracks on the butt, so I had to file them off. Wasn't able to get all the file marks off the butt, though it doesn't look terrible. Not Birgorka quality, but very servicable. The rest of the khuk is top class. A keeper. The handle is definately Nepali sized. Fits me great.
