Sold! Thanks!

This is my “Diablo” kiridashi. It is certainly unique, and is the largest kiridashi that I have ever seen. The larger size makes it an exceptional utility or defensive blade. Kiridashis make great "all-around" use knives.

The blade is made from 1/8 ATS-34. I performed all heat treat and tempering operations. The relatively thin stock combined with the high hollow grind, make this knife a phenomenal cutter. The tip is ground in a reverse tanto shape, giving it a bit more strength and rigidity.

The handle is exceptionally comfortable in either standard or reverse grip. The wrap is nylon and is impregnated with epoxy to prevent unraveling or moisture retention. The under wrap is a choice piece of black sting ray skin. I chose a very detailed skull for the menuki.

The knife is ground with a chisel hollow grind for a right hand user. I have also ground a swedge along the spine that greatly aids penetration. The knife is extremely sharp, as the edge was polished and stropped. Excellent edge geometry. The knife is finished with a practical and attractive satin finish.

- ATS-34
- 60 - 61 HRC
- 1/8 Stock
- Hollow Chisel Grind (Right Hand)
- Razor Sharp
- 9" OAL, Cutting edge of 4"
- Kydex sheath

Thanks, that's a serious compliment coming from you. Isn't funny how we both do kiridashi and they're so different?

Thanks!

One of the reasons I like to make a kiridashi from time to time, is that you can make the design as simple or as complex as you want without straying from the basic theme too much. I've made a few with G10 handles, but I've been on a cord wrapping tangent lately.

What a neat knife. I'm glad i missed it or i would have spent yet more money that i don't have.
How would this be at vege slicing in the kitchen ? (I know it would give Zombie Protection).

The Diablo would make a great slicer for the kitchen. Like a traditional sushi knife, the chisel ground blade cuts and separates the material it cuts. With the thin stock and high grind, the Diablo cuts extremely well. The handle is sealed with epoxy, so it should be fine for kitchen use.
