Diamond Blade Knives... The BEST blade ever produced...

So a necro thread about a relatively unknown knife company with knives in popular but common D2 and a range of expensive and mostly tacky/generic looking knives outside of two or three, which actually looks to have a decent shape/design for skinning and caping. Said thread started by an OP who sounds like he has shares in the company and a thread including a link to a (lets not call him a journalist) but a (sponsored) 'writer' raving about said knives - no thanks.

That being said, it would be interesting to test a knife or two from the company, but not at that price point. I like D2 and high quality knives in that steel can be had else where for a decent price.

I call it BS and the thread should be locked so that there will be no more necro to waste future posters time.

Pardon me for changing this up, but if D2 is hardened to 65+, wouldn't it get kind of brittle. It says in the article only the edge is that hard, so would the edge be liable to chipping under hard use, like ramming into bone while cleaning a deer or something. Just wondering.

The whole point of the friction forging process was the blades were treated so as to have a grain size that was beyond ultrafine. This mitigated the toughness issue. I have no issue with them being able to bend one 180 degrees without it breaking, as the hardened portion on some of the blades was quite narrow, 1/4" to 3/8" wide. However, for the price, the knife I tested/handled was not worth it. There were some F&F issues, and the edge was quite thick. Even with the processing benefits, there are better cutting knives in normal D2 that the FF blade I had couldn't keep up.

Knife magazines, paper or online, tend to be like Lake Wobegon- all the children are above average - WAY above average.

I'm put off by a journalist that claims to have seen the knife bent in two, then back again without issue, yet has no proof. Just about everyone has a decent camera in their pocket (smartphone). A writer for F&S watched an absurd demo like that and didn't even snap a pic or two?

No, there's no way D2 at that hardness bent 180 without shattering at the edge. If this demonstration existed they should throw the video in your face the second you hit their website. I didn't see it. I just saw some test videos shot with a Webcam from 1998. About as convincing as a sasquatch sighting.

The knife might be great, but I'm gonna call BS on that article.

The Meridian is a great looking knife, but too pricey for me.

I agree whole heartedly about the article; total BS.

I would rather have a Busse, or a custom fixed blade for that matter. And Bob Dozier IS the master of D2.

I'm new to the forum, but I'm not a "shill." The only claim I made was that it outperforms infi in terms of edge retention. It's my favourite knife, and it was forged in a unique way. I didn't think I had to prove anything... I mentioned that I might put one of my knives to the test, but it could break at my expense. I was just curious about your thoughts and perspectives... The majority of them have been positive, but there have been a few who have been antagonistic.

I agree that I should not have made the title so divisive, but with a 68 rc hardness, some may claim that they are!
So you resurrected a six-year-old thread, which you claim to have 'made the title of' and talked about claims you made despite the fact that this is your first post on the forum and you joined today. You sure sound like a shill, but I'll let the mods sort that out.
