• Happy Thanksgiving to all of you! I hope that you all have something to be grateful for this year and for many years to come
  • America has reached 250 years, and I am grateful to be here, in the best country in the world. Thank every one of you who helps make this country a better place, those who have gone before and risked it all, and those who've paid the ultimate price to make the United States what we are today.

Happy Birthday America! Let Freedom Ring for all time!

Diamond plates from CKTG for edge pro - good?

And imagine how much sharper yet you'll be able to get with practice, and perhaps a couple good strops and some of the sub-micron compounds Ken has. :D

He's got em' down to .010 micron, as I recall.

update:
I purchased another of the diamond plates from CKTG, the 74micron. I have used it once along with the 125 micron, and I do like them both. The scratch pattern is not quite as nice as the chosera stones but they seem to work well. I will update here as I get more use out of them. I will also try to pick up a DMT diasharp plate for my hand sharpening stuff and then I will have a reference for diamond plates.

also I made a few strops, and have loaded 2 of them with 1micron paste from HandAmerican, and the .5 green stuff also from HA. I have officially got hair popping shrap on 2 of my blades. I unfortunately can not whittle hair (or so I think). I can make 1 slice and curl up part o the hair, the second cut always cuts through it. I also have to have a slight tension on the hair to do it, or I put my finger behind the hair and slice slowly.

FWIW I made my own diamond stone plates for my EP. I used DMT Diasharp 4" stones on my own aluminum backing plates. IIRC I got the stones from Woodcraft.com and the aluminum from Ace Hardware. Not hard to do at all. I also made glass stropping plates for the EP and used BRKT black and green compounds on them.... or Mother's Mag Polish. Worked great until I got into paper wheels.
