Diamondblade.... Or dozier?

I have been thinking of getting a new knife for deer season this year. Something a bit smaller then my bravo 1 LT. I have done a bit or reading on diamondblade blades and their friction forge D2. Sounds pretty nice! Just wondering who here has experience with these knives and are they worth getting? And once they do get dull how hard are they to sharpen?

Or should I be looking into a Bob dozier knife? Read many good things, sounds like he's the king of D2! And he has a lot of nice designs to choose from.

Any info on either company would be appreciated!

Cheers!

I'm inclined to go with Dozier. It will hold its value and he makes a fine knife.

Dozier's site says he's 3 years backlogged, so that may be an issue for this deer season.

I personally have no patience for the "chase" to find a rare or back ordered item. I wish I could find pleasure in searching out a low-supply item, but it drives me nuts. I'd love a Dozier, or a Phil Wilson, almost anything Ray Laconico made, or a specific Busse that isn't made anymore, but a several year wait (or trying to vulture aftermarket sales threads) is beyond me.

Plenty of purveyors have Doziers in stock for a minimal up charge.
AGRussell, AZCK to name a few...
I have to vote Dozier since I've got a couple and haven't been disappointed.

Yep, the standard Dozier's are pretty easy to find if you look. AGR has the in to get them much faster. If you check their site, they quote a 3-4 month wait if they don't already have it in stock. Other sites as mentioned have a steady flow of them, even the Bay.

A true, made by Bob Dozier himself knife will be much harder to find and a ton more expensive. I can't wait for hunting season to get this sucker bloody...

This Loveless DPH was made by Bob in 2009 with 154CM.

Dozier has excellent ergonomics, and his fit and finish are the best that I have ever seen. The F&F are consistent for all his knives, I've never had a stinker from him, and I have about several.

Sounds like you can't go wrong with a dozier! I have been checking out a few websites that carry a couple. Really liking the Yukon Skinner. Thinking that's what I'll try a find!

Exactly, Bob makes great knives.

Well sounds like Dozier is the winner! I have been cruising AG Russel's website and ordered a Yukon Pro Skinner! Cant wait to get this bad boy!!!!

The diamond blades, made with friction forging have interesting hardness numbers. I just don't find any of their designs appealing.

I worked in the diamond industry, at a competing company, and I sure as heck wish I had thought of that idea. I was trying to think of alternative uses for our products, and all I ever thought of was bearings.

I could sure as heck come up with more visually appealing designs!

Doers designs are classic, without being old fashioned!

I really like them.

The edge retention at the numbers claimed by Diamond must be impressive, though!
