Diasharp... Why did I wait so long?

I picked up a DMT black 6" Duo-fold at Blade this year, I think it is a 180 grit. I wasn't ready to obligate myself to a $80 stone but for $19 I have gotten to check it out. Well, I can't stop re-profiling now! It really made a difference. I've got one of those 'sharpening systems' somewhere and it did a great job but it's never around when I need it. (OK I haven't seen it for 2 years, don't know where it is.) I've sharpened axes, bush axes and swing blades with a file since I was 10 and free hand sharpening is almost second nature to me now. I guess the next big investment will be a nice 11" coarse diamond stone, I hope I don't run out of blades to re-profile!

Mhawg, FWIW the 11 inch diasharp plates include the extra coarse grit (inbetween the coarse and XXcoarse). This grit isn't currently available in the 8 inch plates ,but should become available this summer. Note that the 11 inch diasharps are a bit narrower than the 8 inch plates.
