I swear by Saturday nite it sounded like a good idea!

There were SOOOOOOOO many beautiful knives that I almost went bankrupt! I just bought and bought and bought. I met and got pictures with Emmerson, Elischewitz, Todd from GT, the infamous Rocky, and many many others.
Here is the short list of what I bought at the Blade Show West;

Emmerson Commander
Emmerson Raven
Spyderwrench (I'll never tell how

)
Hogstrom custom
Bugei Lion Dog Katana
SOG Tsunami
Cold Steel Kukri
GT auto
Gerald Morgan neck knife
Spyderco Civilian (old style with aluminum handle)
Mel Pardue Custom

Oh and.... HELP!!!!!

So, what did you all buy?

SS,
There wasn't anything left after you got done!

SS, you are way too funny, my friend. I wish I had met you there. The only thing I purchased there was a Commander but I did order a few custom knives from different makers. One of the things I ordered was a CQC-8. Mary said the wait would be 4+ years but I bet the wait will be at least 6 years (nothing against the Emersons intended). I have a Viper on order from a while back which I hope to get within the next 3 years.

And, I must say, I hate cars and I do love knives!

Don G- we did meet at the show, or more percisely, in the parking garage. We had a short conversation about pictures with Ernest Emmerson

. I wish I had taken more time to chat with everyone that I met there, but that day I had a VERY long drive to get home, but in retrospect it would have been worth it.

S2-

Didn't bring the car down, but I damn near had to sell my plane ticket & walk home.

On my "bathroom" breaks from the SPEEDTECH table, I managed to acquire:

3 Elishewitz folders and one more on order (Damn you, Allen for all those neat new designs!)

Ancient Edge Hissatu (Very cool knife & sheath design for its intended use; glad I'll never have to use it that way. Good folks @ AE/Bugei, but don't let them near your bamboo trees or rattan mats!!)

CRKT bright polish, clip point KISS (Well made, wonderful little knife from my new friend Rod @ CRKT. Hang onto that penny.)

Spyderco Starmate & Cricket (Nancy & Kelly- thanks for hanging onto them for me, but I wanted a wrench too!!)

All this is in addition to 2 Cetans (one Talonite & one BG42) I bought from Rob's show inventory just before he came down.

Not bad for a guy who can only carry one brand for the rest of his life and is supposed to be selling off his collection.

Stay sharp!

Jim, did you get one of Allen's Integral Lock Pieces? I am dying to see one in the steel, as it were.

And if you are only going to sell one knife, you picked a good one, buddy. The #20 swept point has gotten as many OOhs and AAhs as the Apogee did. That is high praise, indeed. Keep up the good work, hope you sold a ton.

have a"knife"day

SS, misque is right, I got there after you finished cleaning up, and there were lots of knifemakers sitting behind bare tables with fistfuls of cash...

Seriously though, I didn't do too bad; work intruded on Saturday, so I didn't make it up there 'til Sunday afternoon. Picked up three Spydies, an Endura and Calypso Lightweight (with Chai engraving) from Jim Mattis, and a plain-edged Goddard Jr. direct from Phyillis Goddard. Might have done some real damage to my wallet, but Jim O'Young had managed to make it out of the building by the time I got back around to the SpeedTech table at the (very) end of the show.

Man, there's a huge difference between looking at a pic of a knife on the web, and actually handling the knife while chatting with the maker...

WHOOPSIEEEEE!!!

Did I mention that taking pictures with famous knife makers has a highly narcotic effect?
What can I say, DOH!

St. James-

I bought some of Allen's knives that I had wanted for quite sometime. Discretion and my checkbook said that I had better put the integral locks on the list for the future.

I really like them. They are right in line with my personal tastes: simple, clean lines; cool shapes; good ergonomics; top notch materials; etc. Dammit, the list is getting longer.

Glad to hear you're enjoying your Synergy. You have first right of refusal on any #20 we produce in the future.

Stay sharp!

Jim
