Rather than create a bunch of files, you could also do:

for i in 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9; do perl -ne 'push @names, $_; END { print $names[int(rand(@names))] }' < 1000-post-giveaway.list2; done

I know, I know... I'm a geek. :-)
