Did anyone else see this in Knives Illustrated Oct. issue?

I picked up the Oct. of Knives Illustrated at the grocery store last week, and saw what looked like an Apogee. In fact, it was identical, but was smooth, and rainbow anodized. Then I quickly browsed through the article and saw that it was made by a guy who teaches others how to make knives in a shop. I forget his name, but he's from **** Lake, OH. Forgot that too.

Does anyone have this issue? I didn't have the time to read the whole article, so it may explain, but it was an Apogee for sure. TIA

Hahaha...no kidding. I'm not tryin' to "bust" anyone here...I just thought it was weird, because it's unmistakenly an Apogee. Also, the guy is from Ohio, so maybe the guy has "permission." They could be buddies. All I know is the knife looked damned good.

I read that article and did'nt think much about the knife but now that you mention it, sure does look familiar. The article itself was interesting. The process seemed pretty straight forward if you have all the equipment.

Sure does make you think, is it or is'nt it. Sure does have similarities

The reason that the knife looked like an Apogee is that the ABS teacher was (drum roll please).... Darrel Ralph. The article even had a pic of Darrel with some of the students.

Cool, thanks Senator. I looked at the pic, but didn't "pick" him out in it. Oh well, it was a nice knife either way.

Thanks Senator
YEs we made apogees at the ABS school last march.

My feeling on the frame locking type locks are very strong. I like them very much.
My point was to show the world that the frame lock can be made by anyone who will take the project on and use imagination.

We made the knives in 4 days and then forged the rest of the time.

All the students were great. I feel also that the ASB and the North Caraloina knife makers guild (NRA sponcered) are two of the most progressive organizations in the industry.
They give a damn about knives and really train and promote progress.

It's cool that you share your knowledge with others Darrel. Wish I could take one of your classes.

Until then, I'll keep bugging you to make them for me.
