Did anyone else start out hating how Spyderco's look?

No. I thought they always looked practical without having any extra things sticking off them beyond the clip. Because of their look I gave one a chance. A decade later I own nearly a dozen and have probably gifted to friends and family more than twice that number

Absolutely! They look ridiculous with the ugly humps and holes in the blade.
They WORK though. Just about all I own now are spydercos. Try one and you'll understand. The catch is you can't really judge them well from fondling. You've got to actually carry and use them realize how good they are.
The military is my number one.

Yep, didn't like the looks when i started my 'collection', then read about em, now have 6...

Everyone starts out hating how Spydercos look. Haha.
Then you buy one. Two, three...

Yes, I strongly disliked the look of them. Now they're the only folder I carry.

Hated them. Own 2. Will own more. Still think the Manix 2 is ugly, but it has incredible ergos and is an outstanding user.

'Hate' is probably to strong, but I they always looked weird to me. But I found out they work really, really well.
I have three now

I still do. But they are probably the best bang for your buck that you can get. I own 4 just for that reason.

always thought they had the most consistent level of aesthetic quality, and the most unique look. then I actually bought a couple and used them, and realized they work even better than they look.

I always thought they were the coolest knives ever made. My love started with the worker when I discovered it in the classifieds of a magazine in 1982.
I coveted the worker till I saw a Police Model which was my first purchase in 1988.

Oh hell yes! Now I have more than 20 and, with a few exceptions, I still hate the way they look. To me, for me, Spyderco succeeds in spite of their looks.
