Smith & Sons Mudbugs went on sale today at 11am CST. Did anyone (besides myself) partake? Which color did you choose? I went with OD green micarta.

This is my first sodbuster and since I have huge hands, I figured it'd be a good model for me. I'm pretty excited!

I did the exact same as you but with the sheath. Really looking forward to this one. I use my peanut for the majority of tasks will be nice to have this for outside work and such.

Thanks for the heads up, I got a green one too. That's all that was left, but I would have picked that anyway.

I snagged a maroon one with sheath! First sodbuster for me too. My wife got me a Smith and Sons Ogre and I love it, was keen to check out one of their folders! Hope you guys enjoy yours!

I ordered one with the natural canvas micarta handle covers and a sheath. I thought by the time I got home from work and had a chance to order one they would all be gone. I was happily surprised to see that the natural canvas micarta was still available. I'll count myself lucky this time. This will be my first sodbuster too by the way.

Hey guys!! Where are the pictures, hmmmmmm????????
We need more!! Close-ups of the handles especially!!
:D

In September I had pre-ordered the Maroon, Natural Canvas and OD green(with sheaths) and just got them yesterday in the mail (no time to take pics). Fit and finish is excellent, perfect pull, no blade movement in any direction whatsoever. Very impressive! So what the heck, I decoded I had to have a complete set and ordered the black linen with a sheath today at noon.

I had preordered a natural canvas micarta. It's going to pair well with my 77 barlow.

None for me, but I'd like one. Only so much to spend, tho'. Billsch8-!!! much respect man! That is the way to commit, specially getting sheaths for all of them. I read they put swedges on them this year, noticeably different? Sounded even better to me actually. Charlie's right! We need some pics when you good folks have time, definitely youBillsch8!
Thanks, Neal

Grabbed a Maroon Micarta with sheath. At least i hope they switch it before it ships. I originally ordered the black because the Maroon wouldn't add to my cart but after talking to them on the phone they said they would switch it for me. Unfortunately they lost a box of the Maroons to an accident. So any who snagged one feel lucky.

I ordered a maroon one yesterday and can't wait to check it out. I have an OD 71 I love so this should be another great option.

I ordered an OD Green Mudbug yesterday.

Here's a Mudbug I've had for awhile.

I have two Mudbugs from last year's run, and they have very slightly swedges. My new Mudbug, from this year's run, has a much more pronounced swedge.

I got in on the preorder. I got the natural canvas and with a sheath was the only option during the preorder. I will say that I like the knife. I wear an XXL glove and this fits my hand nicely. From the discussion/comments I had seen in the past, I was expecting a monster blade. I was also a little concerned about the width of the handle. Having owned a 71 before, that thick handle is hand filling and seeing The Mudbug was going to be thinner than the 71, I was concerned. It could be a bit thicker, but it is just fine.

Yeah. I was a bit taken aback by my first Mudbug. It's a really thin knife, in comparison to other sodbusters I've handled. I was concerned also. My GEC #42 is a bit small for my grip. My hands aren't really that large, but I have very long fingers. For some reason, the Mudbug is just right for me. It's got a great grip.

As far as blade size goes, I'm not bothered by it at all. I could see some people being a bit put off, if all they carry are smaller traditional slipjoints. But if you also carry tacticals, it's a non-issue. The blade is about the same length as a Spyderco Endura, but in a smaller package.

Got a natural canvas & a maroon. Put me in the camp that loves how thin they are. If the one I got last year is any indication these will arrive sharper than any other factory fresh GEC knife you own. I'm guessing they "dress" or otherwise spiff up the edge or put the final sharpening on them at S&Sons,.

I reallllly want one of these(keep checking out the order page). I love traditional lockbacks, and locking soddies really tick the boxes for me. I've got somewhat average fingers but a huge palm, can be tough finding the right gloves boo-hoo, and these just sound like a perfect fit. Modoc ED-didn't you have a thread about testing one of these on the roof of a shed or some such thing? It was about micarta I believe. Whatever happened with that? I'd try to locate the thread but have no idea what to search for precisely. It was kinda funny, as I recall.
Thanks, Neal

I was looking at those beauties all day, almost got my self in trouble too... An unexpected flight unfortunately cut into my monthly knife budget so no dice this time around. I have actually been looking at various sodbuster styles as my next acquisition. I may look at getting a Case.

Beautiful knives though, I am looking forward to seeing everyone's pictures once they get them in.
