... because Jerry only wants to put something on the market that will make waves or such.

I actually think that The folder will have one hell of a reputation to live up to.

I also believe that it will be out when and if Jerry feels that he can put out a product that will prove as tough and strong as his fixed blades, and meet expectations.

Just my opinions too, FWIW.

Yeah it all sounds good, but let's get serious...he has an evil side that likes to torture people :)

Man, I hope not. No one should expect a folder to have the durability of a fixed blade. I really hope that Jerry will not expect the folder to survive as well as fixed blades from his torture tests, or we'll be waiting until 2050 for the thing to arrive.
And what about a locking mechanism? In order to keep costs down, he'll have to go with something ingeniously new, but simple (hard for me to fathom) or something strong and simple, like a lock back, possibly with an E.R. style bolt. Otherwise the price of this baby is going to skyrocket.

Walker-type lock, with extra stuff to make it "dead-bolt" secure... no doubt

HHHUUMMM....

I think a folder would be great,,,

just dont send them to me and expect me polish them like those F$#@ing piano keys , Jerry .

go get yourself a strider SNG V6 or a Mike Draper Sabra, then when Jerry brings out his blade, replace those with his.........it's gonna be awhile me thinks, though i think it will be a incredible payoff. The one thing I worry about is expectations that this thing is creating, and if it can live up to those expectations.....until then I'll cary my sng, draper or blackwood curr.....

Strider :barf: :barf:

I'd rather carry a Boker

say what you want about the strider guys, the sng is one hell of a knife, and far beefier than a boker, and I like boker knives.....

What type of blade material is it,, I know most striders are G-10 SCALES(besides the para cord)
, but what type oF blade material is it on the sng v6 ?

There are some pretty decent Bokers out there.
They definately aren't a low quality company.
.
Anyway, JERRY, IF YOU ARE READING THIS, and you are going to use a Walker style lock, PLEASE use something like the "locking bar" mechanism of the microtech SOCOMs, these are the most effective "liner locks" I've ever seen.

Tread lightly with the talk of other makers folks, we don't want anything to get out of hand. I handled a Strider at Blade, not sure which one as I am ignornat of their line, but it sure did seem as stout a folding blade as I have ever seen. Heck as far as my experience is concerned the Gerber Parabellum with the bolt type lock was the toughest folder I ever had, as far as feeling secure that the blade was not going to fold up on me accidently. I sure miss that thing.

Additional: I see by checking their site, the model I was handling was a new FNG. Very stout lock up, I had to use two hands to close it. I liked the curve on the blade too.

i once posted about strider and was grossly misunderstood, so i will try to be pretty clear here. while everyone of us has our own tastes and say whatever you would like about things, but the truth of the matter is that the strider folders are truely amazing workhorses. the steel that the more recent blades are made of is s30v, which is known for being an excellent steel. as for the locking issue. aside from their AR/GB folder line (which have excellent locks as well), they use frame locks, which are in my opinion are an excellent design. the framelock with the titanium frame together make for a very solid lockup. they also have been using g10 on the other side. i am a busse fan tried and true, and i cant wait for the folder, but i would be a fool not to let the strider scene make any of my money.

Yeah I know... I have a problem :D

I'm stuck working and the only good fishing is 2-3hrs away via vehicle. With my work schedule, I haven't been able to get out fishing. But that will change next month. In the words of skunk, "I'm goin' to Detox"

Anyway, I suuuuuuuuure could use a folder :)
