Did I make a bad deal?

After watching the show on Discovery, about Japanese swords, it is hard for me to desire anything but a good quality sword. Not to say I could afford one like they made on the show, which I can not, but something of fairly good quality is at least my option. A folded, powder steel blade, with a nice hamon, would be a good choice, I believe.
 
I just recently read an article describing some of the mastersmiths actually got supplies of wootz damascus and used them in traditional swords. Now that would be a find.
