Did I manage to pick up something unusual here?

I just bought a Waved Delica from ebay and received it on Wednesday. The description didn't mention the handle color at all and the pictures clearly showed the handle as black, but when I opened the box it was British Racing Green. I've looked around a little bit and have seen BRG Delicas, but haven't spotted any others with the Wave. Did I get something unusual, or am I just not looking in the right places?

The waved Delicas are supposed to be dark gray. If yours are really BRG, someone may have swapped scales with a ZDP Delica. I suppose it could have been a factory mistake, but I kind of doubt it.

I'd guess a scale swap too. Not something likely to happen at the factory, and a fairly easy "fix" for someone who wants "blade A" but prefers "handle color B". Buy both, swap scales, sell the one that now sports " blade B" and "handle A".

Cool, thanks for the input everyone! I don't know, it looks green to me, but my girlfriend says it might be a bluish gray. . . It may just be that it's the normal color and my eyes have gone crazy. I haven't found any pics online that could convince me one way or the other. I guess that I'll have to make my next Spydie one that is definitely BRG so I can look at them side by side and figure it out for sure! Whatever the case may be, I love the knife.

The "real" color of the waved models has been discussed often; for me, it is just a dark blue, but anything from "black" over "grayish blue" to "green" has been mentioned. It can be tough, though. It all depends on the light ;)

To end your uncertainty, I shot some black Spydies, one C38P BRG (=burgundy!!), a british racing green GRE (ZDP-189) Delica and the C11PGYW Delica Wave "navy blue" in one pic, and another pic only with the Delicas (and one SS, of course :D ), all in natural light.

When looking at them, you should be able to decide if your Delica is stock or has swapped handle scales (what would surprise me, most likely you recieved a "normal" D4W).

Hey, thanks for the pics Murdoc! I'm pretty sure now that it's just the normal color and my eyes and/or the light are playing tricks on me and making it look green. The pics posted with the auction looked very black, adding to my confusion even more. It's just kind of an odd, hard to pin down color. My girlfriend, who is an artist, assures me that my D4W is the same color as the one in your pics, so I guess it must be true.:o
