Did I mention, I love hollow grinding?

Well, I'm starting to, anyway.

This was ground with my new(to me, anyway) 1" wide, 14" serrated hollow grinding wheel. Got the blade to 120 grit so far. Me likey; so far, anyway.

Just a nice little piece of Nick Wheeler's 1084/15N20 Random pattern damascus. Main bevels are the only thing I've ground so far, since I heat treated it(hence, the ugly colored flats). Yes, it will get handles(but, not before I finish a couple others). Got some burl wood in mind for this one. Either that, or stabilized Koa. That's Tommy, BTW, sneaking his way into my picture. ;) :)

Cool knife I have an 8 inch diameter 1 inch wide wheel that I have never used in 10 years. Did you find it gave better control for following the edge curve?

Dunno, as I don't have any experience in hollow grinding. I've really done nothing but flat grinds, up to this point. I will say, it was easier than flat grinding, that's for sure.

I just order a 14" wheel yesterday, but would like a 20"...

Goin to go back to hollow grinding folder blades...

Joe, I'll hand sand with some type of backing with the same radius as the wheel.

I got to visit with Tony Bose last weekend and checked out his new Burr King with 20" wheel.

The evolution of grinding, gotta love it, move from big ol 30" stone wheels with peddle power to 6" motor driven belt covered wheels and now were on our way back up to 20-30" motor driven belt covered wheels. Pretty soon everyone will be looking for 5 or 6 HP motors to drive there big ol grinding stone wheels.
