Did I pay the right price ?

I thought the price I paid is good but few people discouraged me saying stuff
I also believe it is really only the sellers and your business what price you paid. If you want to share the price that is fine but sometimes in social media complete strangers will ask the price I paid for a knife. I do not mind sharing the price to friends but feel that it is my business. Just my two cents worth. You have a very nice Aurum knife set.

I never ask anyone if the price I paid for a knife was a good deal or not. To me it doesn't matter what someone else thinks. Only that I am happy with the deal. You will always find people
on either side of the fence regarding the price.

A new 501 the Custom Shop starts at $75, or $300 for 4. You've got 4 new 501s, etched by one of the best & numbered, display box, buckle for 350. You did good!

$225 ????? That’s low price what was the condition of the set ????
It was mint and complete. Some times collectors will pass and their kids will throw their knives up on Ebay for what they think is a good quick sale price to get some extra cash for expenses and what not. I'm sure that s how I got a nice set for $225. Or sometimes pawn shops will list on the bay not knowing what they really have in a Buck knife and something they probably gave 10% of what it's worth in pawn. I once got a mint unused 2 liner 120 in box on the bay from a pawn shop for $60 shipped cause that's what 120's were selling for at the time. It was a huge pawn shop that sold it and I was amazed they didn't realize how much they undervalued the knife. People find stuff in storage auctions and flea markets, every collector here has a story of something they got for an amazing deal and usually when they least expected it.:D

$350 is $75 for each knife, $25 for the belt buckle and $25 for the nice wood box and paperwork. No one can say you over paid. They are very nice knives individually and as a set they are even better:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

F farm from someone who isn't a big buck collector I say you did great. I paid a little over $160 for a custom converted auto 112 and it wasn't anything special like what you bought so...ya you did well. Here's what I bought recycled picture not gonna wake the family up at midnight 20190925_101403.jpg

I don’t know if the seller was happy
I sure was till some people started to say negative about it

Don't second guess yourself Farm.
There's always some that are of the "cup half-full" group.
One of the things I like most about this forum is the prevailing positive attitude.
I make a habit of not looking at price after I purchase, I do that first.
A number of folks I know think I spend too much on some of the things I buy...... And my collection doesn't compare to yours.
Tho I know I paid a high price for some items, but sometimes that is what it takes to get rare items.
As long as it's within your means.... and you must have one heck of a farm, lol.
If your happy, that's all that matters.
Nice set sir!

Buck 501 Squire, one of my very favorite knives. Great set and worth the price, yes.

I purchased one before knowing there was a set, the price was in the neighborhood for a single knife from the set.

Knife pricing is tricky at the best of times.

Current production knives are easy, the internet helps a lot. When you see those $70 Bullnose knives going for $100 on the Exchange, for example, you can just chuckle to yourself and hit the back key.

There will always be someone who'll come along and tell you that he bought your knife for half what you did. Or better yet, he 'passed' on your knife for half what you paid. Those guys aren't trying to be helpful.

Your market will influence things too. Here in the cornfields of Illinois I'll pay more for things that are common in the south or east than those guys would. The internet has leveled that playing field somewhat.

I am almost always buying to keep, that makes it easy. If I like it, and can afford it, I buy it. Occasionally I'll run across something that suggests that the price I bought at was off kilter one way or another, but I generally know what the market is for the things I'm on the prowl for. I don't worry a lot about it.

Anyway, nice set you've got there. I'd be pleased.

Idk who the naysayers were and I hope I don't offend you by saying this but hell with what they think. People who don't have a hobby that involves some sort of collecting things that can get expensive (knives, guns, coins, stamps, cars ECT) won't understand. As most have said and my opinion doesn't mean much but you got a beautiful set and obviously wanted it and paid what it took to get it. Seems the more knowledgeable among us have spoken and you did pretty good money wise but now you have another piece of your collection that is fairly difficult to come by. Gorgeous set you aquired with a great display case, thank you for sharing the pics.
