Did I Purchase a Fake Fallkniven F1?

It's in Spanish but the pic's are clear!

Just a note. Hope I don't sound like I'm nitpicking, and not to go off-topic, but it's Portuguese, not Spanish. When you see something that looks like Spanish, but features letters with little tails dangling from the bottom like "ç" or a letter "a" with a tilde over it (ã), that's Portuguese. I wish it was Spanish. :) Portuguese is harder for me to read and decipher. I'm a bit tempted to type all the text into Google translate because he clearly went into great detail about the differences between real and fake F1s.

Oops, my mistake!
Eric only mentioned it was from South America, not what language it was in.

Anyway, I hope it helps to accurately ID the genuine F1's!

Per "not claimed by Fällkniven to be made in Sweden!" Take a look at there catalog and website. Everything states sweden, down to their logo. They might not claim to be made in sweden, but they sure don't tell you where the knives are made. They imply on every piece of marketing information that the knives are swedish.

I own Eka knives, Mora knives and know many Swedes. Sweden has a long, rich and great history in steel and knives...designed and made by Swedes. In my pin-headed universe, Fallkniven's marketing information is at best misleading, at worst, conscious deception.

Spyderco, SOG, Cold Steel, etc. are all totally upfront about their knives origins.

So, again, copies of fallknivens are just Karma being herself.

If your Karma theory was true then there wouldn't be fake Spydercos, or Kershaws, or any other company that does good business. Karma has nothing to do with it, there are fakes because the authentic ones are excellent which creates a demand, and where there's a demand you will find shady people trying to illegitimately profit from it.

Brownshoe, there are no company in Sweden who can produce knives like the Japanese do.

I see no wrong in designing, developing, testing and marketing in Sweden, but producing in Seki City, Japan.
The knives would probably be cheaper to make here, but that's not what Peter asks for.
He wants the best producers he know of and he has chosen Hattori and Moki.

Personally I have no objections to this and I certainly enjoy my Fällkniven knives.

Do not drag this thread off topic. The topic of this thread was a simple request for help and not an invitation to start a debate over karma or whether or not a company is misrepresenting country of origin etc. Stay on topic or move along. Any other off topic posts will be considered trolling and dealt with accordingly.

I've always known that Fallkniven's where made in Japan, so no surprise there for me.

But I thought knives sold in America of foreign origin had to marked with the country where they where made.

Is that not true?

Thank you all! It came in and based on the South American video, and some measuring, I think that the knife is real, has the lamination line, it has a convex edge, black logo in the back of the blade near the spine, the inside of the box was brown and it came with all materials, the rivets on the sheath seem right, the dimensions seem right (Though the width seems closer to 27mm than 27.2...
Sorry I couldn't upload pics.
This knife is actually larger than I expected, and heavier; I guess I have small hands!
Thank you all! Especially as such a kind community introducing themselves to a newbie, you guys are great.

Great!

That also means that the company You bought it from, came out clean!

Enjoy Your new F1!
It will give You good service for a long time.

Great news that your F1 is genuine. I was not so lucky. Based partially on this thread, and the counterfeit page on Fallkniven's site; I have discovered that I purchased a counterfeit Fallkniven F1 in May. Not on this Forum, but on the 1911 Forum.

Definitely a cheap chinese counterfeit, flat grind with secondary bevel instead of full convex grind, no lamination lines, 14 lpi checkering on handle instead of 12 lpi, white box w/ white liner instead of brown, fake leather sheath instead of genuine leather. I'm out a hundred bucks plus, and have contacted the seller for a refund. Will go to PayPal if that doesn't work. Wish I'd read all this before making a mistake; the flat grind and secondary bevel even show up in the photos, if I had known what to look for. Will try to post photos here later. It's possible seller (private party) did not know it was a ten-dollar fake so I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt.

First, I got my Fallkniven F1 from BladeHQ (BHQ) for only a couple of dollars more than Best Service Stores (BSS). Funny thing is that I have a Mcusta Yoroi on the way arriving on Monday from BSS only because BHQ did not have them in stock. BHQ was exactly $1.01 more! So, I think price-wise you did not pay an outrageously low price and Amazon stands behind you on the BSS purchase. My first dealing with BSS as well. Sometimes you have to try a new unknown outfit because nobody else has what you want.

Wyatsy,

Just wanted to put you at ease.

My Mcusta Yoroi from BSS arrived tonight and it's the genuine article.
