Did I purchase a fake PM2?

Hi,

Recently purchased a fine PM2, but after looking closer into counterfeits and more, I doubt my knife is original. What do people think?

I could be wrong reading others experiences online, but only one milled hole in each liner, lock cutouts have sharp edges and not swoopy edges, no chamfer on lanyard tubes were some of them. But I could be wrong…

I didn’t. Bought second hand, despite it was not used at all when purchased.

Looks pretty good to me. The blade grind and fonts look correct. The only thing that could be off is that compression lock tab, the corner closer to the pivot looks a little bit sharper than mine which is more rounded and symmetric with the other side. If it's a fake it's a good fake. Use it and see if it wears like S30V

Agreed. That's the only difference I see as well.
Maybe the original owner modified it for some reason?

Good question, I don’t know unfortunately, but could be the case.

BTW I just looked at several other compression lock tabs on other spydercos and some of them look just like yours. The para 3 I have is sharper on one side. I would lean towards it's legit.

Unfortunately it’s a fake. The obvious tell in the G10 handles are the sharp corners of the cut out at the compression lock area; other small fake tells in curvatures of the handles are there too. You can also check your liners; real PM2s have 3 milled holes, and also have the notches in the liners around the middle of the handle (start/stop point of the laser cutting).

Yes, didn’t notice that earlier. A real PM2 wouldn’t have a gap at the ricasso like this.

The counterfeiters keep raising the bar. I would need a real PM2 in hand to compare to that phony to see the differences.

I'm not sure what is meant by "used", but at a minimum, that knife is sharpened in a way that I have never seen on any Spyderco. And it may just be the angle, but to my eye, the face side pivot screw looks to be slightly rounded as well. A crappy bit could be the culprit or it could be something else.

Yea, fake. That clip looks bad wrong, as well as the ricasso. Liners are the easiest way to tell though.

Never seen a Spyderco satin clip with sanding lines. That's either refinished (could be the case if you bought it used) or fake.
