Did I say budget AR

You might remember me posting a while back about building a budget AR. Well it has turned out not to be so budget. Just got a couple more parts for Christmas and got them installed. Started with a Spikes Crusader lower and got a real good trade deal on a DPMS upper and bought a Fail Zero BCG. That would have been kind of budget if left alone with a cheap set of sights. So far I have ended up adding a truglow reflex, Troy Industries battle sights, ambi single point sling attachment, low profile gas block and new tube and a free float hand guard. I think I have it just right except for kind of wanting to go with a heavier 1/7 barrel. I also just know I will end up with an Eotech one of these days. I would have gone with cheap iron sights if I had an Eotech but figure I better go with a good set using a cheaper reflex. Gun Show this next weekend so I am going to pick up a good sling and a few more Pmags.
What do you think?

Nice rig man! I'd go for an aim point instead of eotech but that's just me; I love that blade, perfect match for the rifle, I got to get one of those one day. Nice job and choice of components, it's hard to do anything "budget" nowadays, I find.

I forgot, I used Magpul folding sights and they're not bad, cheap too; but Troy is very excellent.

BRD (black rifle disease) affects thousands and can be costly. I also have it! My budget rifle turned out not so budget. I'm not sure if you've kept up with the eotech refund stuff but you might want to look into aimpoint.

Fire fighter knows what's up, I have two aimpoint micro t-1s and they are all you will ever need. Plus you can leave them on. My two say that they will maintain level 3 brightness for 3 years constant. I just change my batteries every 2 yrs. When I pick it up it is ready to work, everytime.

+1 unless you have an astigmatism, then look at the Leupold Prismatics with their etched reticles in the glass. They don't have the battery life of the Aimpoints, but you don't need the reticle illuminatied 99% of the time (especially if you have a light attached to the gun), so battery life isn't that big of an issue. If you do go with the Leupold, get the Larue base for it too for quick removal if it ever fails (unlikely). You can co-witness the Leupold, but they are 1.25X instead of a true 1X optic.

If you have good eyes, get the Aimpoint if you want an illuminated dot and true co-witness capabilities.

Congrats on the rig... It looks great!

I heard Eotech was having problems. If I get a better one it will be an Aim Point.
Thanks All!

I bought this rifle a few months ago and am waiting for it to get out of jail.

I bought the SHE with tan to match, as close as I can, the paint job. I may send her off to be stripped and coated to match the rifle directly

As far as optics, I went with the Trjicon MRO. Cheaper that the aimpoint but wit comparable battery life and larger FOV. I've had a T1 but the dot was a comet to me.

EoTech was also just sued by the gov and issuing refunds for falls claims and POI shifts in their sights, mostly impacting cold and hot weather locations (I live in NE so it gets hella cold) so they are issuing no questions asked refunds

Very good point sir; nice rig too; Leupold makes some very good optics and I agree LaRue is one of the best, if not the best for bases; I'm a fan of their stuff big time, expensive but worth every penny.

PMags are good, but I decided to go with Lancers on my 300 BLack. I like the dif see through options

You might look at the meprolight sight too, tritium powered reflex light and works really well. My old eotech has been running for a decade with no problems I think its the newer ones after the original company was sold that have issues. Mines sure been in extremes of cold and heat over the years with no problems holding zero.

I thought one of the selling points of that Leopold is that it DOES give a true 1x, maybe I'm confusing it with a different model...
I used to work for Leopold, fantastic company and all their "gold ring" and tactical lines are made in the USA (Beaverton, OR to be precise)!

Dang man, I really like your rifle, the color is perfection to my taste; what is it? I mean the brand, looks amazing.

I'm convinced there is no such thing as a budget AR. You start with a lower, then some parts go on sale so you figure hey I could always use another lower, or three, or five. One in green, oh sure one in fde, and of course I gotta have a black one or three. I think I have a nice even dozen stripped to half finished lowers currently. Pmags, check. Loads. Buy now or you will want to throat punch yourself later.

It is a Modern Carbine by Modern Outfitters. I mod a forum for the guys and they hook me up.

Then they have an awesome cerekoting guy who painted everything in this custom distressed paint job.

Chambered in 300 blackout.

A bronze cerakote CG FBM along side this...

Some amazing kits here, everyone.

Yea that's kind of my thoughts. Going to have my SHE done to match and if they do release a FBM, I'll do the same with her

My budget ARs always get more expensive as I start to buy the parts. Especially now that I have set up a trust and I'm starting to acquire NFA items. Nice build u812.... Adian that SBR is very nice
