Did I say budget AR

I find that building one tends to be as or more expensive than buying depending on the parts you use. But I like having a warranty too

Prices gonna go up again with another ban bill just introduced to Congress, too.

I'm debating picking up a couple of new things for my 6920... or building a second. I dunno. ><

Well, I should say SOME prices will go up. Other stuff will just be perpetually sold out ><

I have a new list of parts for a New 308.... I should have never sold the first one all I see are prices going up for a "Cheap" build...:(

Yea...no such thing as a budget AR for me. I have a Colt 6940 with. Cryptic Coatings BCG, Leupold optic, Surefire Suppressor, Wilson Combat TTU trigger...by the time you add the other little things like Troy $135 rear sight, Trijicon front sight post, metal trigger guard, $200 SopMod stock....jeeeeze...I'm over $5,000 right there....budget....HaHa. My advice to the OP....YES get a 1/7 twist good quality barrel.....it will make a great difference in the end. Colt 6920 upper would work. Vaguntrader.com had one on there less than a week ago.

I'm convinced there is no such thing as a budget AR. You start with a lower, then some parts go on sale so you figure hey I could always use another lower, or three, or five. One in green, oh sure one in fde, and of course I gotta have a black one or three. I think I have a nice even dozen stripped to half finished lowers currently. Pmags, check. Loads. Buy now or you will want to throat punch yourself later.

This is pretty much it.

I started with a varmiter 18" WOA upper on a RRA lower with "match grade" components, then I wanted a 3-gun upper, so I picked up a RRA R3 Competition upper, and then I discovered that you can legally build your own AR-15 pistol and things went downhill after that.

Don't even talk about optics! ( I do also have EOTECH and have had no issues with mine and do not intend to exercise the warranty unless the item becomes unusable...)

I have completed a few AR pistols for myself and friends, and you can build a nice quality AR with readily available components for ~$600 the last time I built one (summer 2015).

Once you get one "done", though, you start seeing things like Geissele triggers; you start wondering if keymod or m-lock is the better choice....

I found a small company out of Idaho that is making some nice stuff for ARs - Odin Works - I bought a couple friends their extended mag release, and put one on one of my guns - also picked up a keymod hand-stop. Good stuff -

I can see your logic but I feel like if guy A buys a 1500 ar and guy B spends 1500 on a build and uses it wisely watching for sales and all guy B can have a lot more rifle for the same money.

I priced Colt parts and then found the carbine complete for sale. New from a dealer I spent almost $1000 less buying a factory Colt 6940. Not that you can't find parts on the second hand market for a good price. But specific parts can sometimes be more expensive when sold separately. Try finding a new Colt stripped lower for less than $400.

This is true. I buy spikes, palmetto state armory, BCM, damage industries etc. All quality stuff but I don't try to match brands etc. I try to build a quality rifle for a good price. Just try to get a little more for my money.

It is a Modern Carbine by Modern Outfitters. I mod a forum for the guys and they hook me up.

Then they have an awesome cerekoting guy who painted everything in this custom distressed paint job.

Chambered in 300 blackout.

Thanks for the reply Adian; nice choice of caliber, I have no experience with it but a .30 cal can never do wrong, and I say it again, love the rifle, nice job.
