Did Kershaw jump the shark with OCC?

Look at the first thread. No where did I state that hate Kershaw or OCC. It was more of a question-what did the knife community think of the partnership.

While I don't "Hate" OCC, I just think that the brand is a flash in the pan, it has gained tremendous publicity through it's TV show. That's it. A popular show on Discovery Channel and now syndicated everywhere.

So a bunch of people, including a Kershaw employee, start jumping down my throat, twisting my words, saying "What's your problem man, if you don't like 'em, don't buy 'em!" and other jewels of wisdom.

Well, you know what, I guess certain questions can't be asked here, which I though was a free and unbiased knife forum. I didn't realize company employees were here, trying to quash anyone who dare ask the question.

I could care less about this thread, or motorcycles, or OCC. To me a motorcycle is just a convenient way of making sure there are organs available if I need a transplant. But I'll be darned if I can see where anybody twisted your words.

You expressed an opinion and a bunch of people disagreed. One of them happens to work for Kershaw--big deal. He wasn't rude, dismissive or condescending. He gave an honest answer to what seemed to be a matter of personal opinion, and supplied quite a bit of useful information in the process. Nobody else seemed out of line either.

Seems to me the only things in this thread that are twisted are your undies. By far the rudest contributor to the thread was you.

We get this all the time. People crying that we trample on their right to free speech by disagreeing with them while speaking freely ourselves. The right to free speech does not include the right not to be contradicted. Your feeeelings are not my problem.

Here's a wise old saying for you, DeckardB26354, that I just made up:
The new kid on the block don't get to tell the good old boys how the game is played.

I'd buy a cobranded knife if it was something I was really interested in.
Especially if it was a KERSHAW.
I'd be getting a Quality knife I'd be proud of !!

As stated earlier in this stupid thread. This has been going on forever and I hope it continues. I know it will. The term that got so many unnerved is "jumped the shark". It's clearly not the case. As far as Benchmade’s HD and HK line, that’s a whole different animal. They are not repackaged catalog items. They are completely new designs (mostly). The HK line in some cases are superior to the standard catalog items.

I’m not an OCC fan but I have and use the OCC Blur. I just like the Blur, have many of them and this one looked cool. Notice how understated OCC logo is on the Blur but manages to give it a whole new look. Now that is something many company's can model.

A little history lesson seems to be in order for those few who are irked by all this.

if ya hang around this forum a while ya will certainly hear a few conflicting opinions lol, possibly more than a few.

just a warning for the thin skinned.

If cobranding allows me to get an equivalent knife for less that the same variant without the cobrand then I'm all for it. Why should I care if another company wishes to subsidize part of the cost of my knives?

If you could get a large Sebenza for $400 without a cobrand or get the same knife for $200 but with a Hello Kitty logo etched into the blade, which would you buy? I know not what course others may take, but as for me: Hello Kitty! :D

I'm in for a pink Hello Kitty model.

Not too sure about Sebbie, but the Hello Kitty ZT 0300HK was a huge hit!

That does it. I quit. I'm going back to collecting chewing gum wrappers and popsicle sticks.

Wait Esav! Before you go back to chewing gum wrappers and popsicle sticks, the Hello Kitty co-branding line has a lot to choose from!

Besides the Hello Kitty ZT, there's the Hello Kitty AR,

The Hello Kitty Ferrari,

And the Hello Kitty Armored Personnel Carrier!

Just label it "Mountbatten Pink" and put it on "Dark Ops" knives and you'll have the ultimate knife for covert operators.

Insanely good idea..... Heck, the way these ATV companies run promotions and give away hundreds of dollars worth of add ons, gear and such around hunting season they should contract w/ Kershaw to make Kawasaki and Yamaha branded $200 Zero Tolerances just to give away :D

Thomas, you writing all this down? :p
It sounds good, especially if the knife is based on ZT 0500 "mud knife". A muddy knife for a muddy vehicle.

Um, wow.... :confused::D
