Did Paul Bos left his equipment in CA?

Guys: I answered the question on the other forum. If you can not find it I will redo it here. Thank you Paul.

Hi Paul,

Can you also answer my old question about HT on Buck custom I have one 110 with BG-42 but without your logo on it.

Thanks, Vassili.

Vassili: Some of the first BG-42 blades we did we had no stamp, like the Master Series, Also some special Projects for Cablis and bass Pro donot have the BOS stamp on them? But I did overlook there process ,and do R/C 10% of every run. Thank You Paul.

Mr. Bos--I just now stepped away from my bench. I was touching up the edge on one of my custom shop 110s on a Spyderco Sharpmaker, with Ultra Fine stones. This knife has a BG42 blade.

I must say that this knife is the sharpest of all that I own, and although it lacks your logo, it is otherwise flawless. I am very proud to own and use it, especially now that BG42 is disappearing as a custom shop option.

Thank you for your fine work.

I also add that A2 blade for my own knife heat treated by Paul Bos is one of the best performer.

I was really impresst to have this with "regular" steel not like some supersteel.

I have to find some time and finally make blade out of ZDP189 blank I have - I have solid ZDP and may be I send what is left over for you to do some experiments with it...

Thanks, Vassili.

P.S. What is the policy for stamping blades with you logo?

OK guys, here is the straight scoop. When I moved up here with Buck I took all my equeptment with me. It was to much expence for strider to ship hundreds of blades up here each week, Shipping would have cost as much as heat treating. So Duane and myself went to my old commercial shop Certified Metal Craft in El Cajon and set them up with the same procedures I use, They have state of the art Vacume equeptment, and they are very serious about there work. I still do most of Duanes and Micks customsfor them. They are very close friends and part of my family. Hope this clears things up. Paul Bos.

Sir: As I stated Duane and Mick are my friends, It is a personal thing that I wanted to do, Sending a small amount verses hundreds of blades. is not a big expence. After all I do cater to the Custom Knifemakers. Your opinion is yours. Paul OUT.

As I stated it is a personal thing. It is not there inhouse H T The company that dose it used to be my commercial co. that I Ran for 20 years, The man that runs it is the son of my old partner, He grew up in the heat treat business and worked with me for 20 years. I gave him my procedure for heat treating Striders S-30-V. We tryed many diferent procedurs, tell we got the one they wanted to use. There are no secrets.I share my ways with any Knife Maker, or any knife co that wants to know. The important thing is having the right equempment and useing the correct time and tempreture. Paul.

as it has not yet made it here i jest quoted what he said to here...
i still feel that cooking chile is an art as is cooking steel.
and he maybe the best...

Vassili:

I like the handle on that knife. I'll bet it's nice and comfy in the hand; at least it looks like it would be.

Yes this is best handle I know. Here some links if you like to see bit more pictures.

But it is blade which exteremely good. I just try and start with A2 and it was super, then I try ATS-34 - same, best performance I it is only because of Paul Bos HT - real majic, I just grind it and make handle.

Another best performer ATS-34 by Paul Bos:

Another question to Paul Bos.

Will you start heat treating CPM M4, M2 and CPM S90V?

Thanks, Vassili.

Vissili: You can get stensils and electro etch theBOS logo on it. Call Trace Rinaldi @ (951)-775- 1459, He might be able to help you. I do M-4 and M-2 S-90-V I can make it R/C-56 for you . There is just not enough to take my equept uo to 2150 for sorry.PB.

I have been to the new facility in Post Falls.. Paul is 100% up and running as he has been for quite some time.. Still the best in the HT game there is, and aint nothing changing.. Speaking for me, I hope Paul never retires!
Well I hope he retires enough to go fishing with me once in a while when I move up there!;-)
