Did some hiking yesterday (pic heavy!)

i`d also like to know what the stones said

I'm gonna try and go take some better pictures, I actually found another one about half a mile away from this one. I can't remember what the actual dates were but most of them were pre 1900.

The old grave stones are definitely pretty cool. Was this on top of a hill? There are certain spots that are more typical for family cemetaries than othes. Lots has changed since the 1800's, so it would take some investigating to find out info on the cemetary. Are the names all common (ie same family)? You check old deed records etc. There might have been an old mining camp nearby?

Yes they are on top of a hill and they all bear the same family names. My father told me that our farm at one time was a coal mine or had a coal mine on it. The names on the graves of the second cemetery I found all have the same last name of a family that lives very nearby

Great pics. I envy you. I live in northern california, and have to stay out of the woods this time of year. Illigal pot growing is a way of life for some people here. They take thier income very seriously. Last year the Forestry told their rangers to stay out of certain areas, after finding bodies, and pot fields.
