Hey gang!
Got back from Derrick Wulfs New Northeast Hammer-In this morning (about 1 AM, really), and finally feel up to reporting on the festivities.
The weather broke just in time for the shindig to get rolling, and held straight through the weekend (poor Larry T-Blade drove the last 30 miles on his Hog in torrential downpour!). The food was fantastic, the presenters were not only smiths and craftsmen of the highest order, but they were also perfectly complimentary to one another, and the event had a flow to it that belied the fact that this was Derricks first hosting of such an engagement.
It was great to put faces to names, and Im pretty sure Im not speaking for myself when I say that a great time was had by all! Lots of hammering, lots of technique talk, an amazing exchange of information, and lots of the usual 8th grade childish razzing. For crying out loud, there was an uninterrupted TWO HOURS of joke-telling where everyone participated (with the usual downward spiral to the lowest common denominator occurring with everyone, I might add), and I laughed so hard I lost part of my voice!!!
I look forward to this being an annual event, as Im sure it will be. Thanks for the chance to be involved in this, Derrick were all in debt to you for your generosity!
