Did up some scales in an Army ACU Pattern. Updated with 2nd set

Oregon - your work is beautiful. Thank you for doing this. You probably already know but the material you used for these scales was from our younger son's uniform; he was killed in Iraq 26 January 2009. My older son Psyop gave me the scales on a new BK2 for Christmas and I will always treasure the gift.

Thought you might like to see them now:

Yep, he pm'd me the details asking if I'd be willing to take on the project. I've been asked many times to make a set for folks and didn't feel like I'd be able to complete the set in a timely manner but I couldn't say no to this project. I didn't number that one as I try to do now days . It's my 8th set of Micarta and if you take off the scales and look closely at the underside you can see the Milspec tag on those. You know laundry washing instructions and what not. That set is from the ACU trousers.
It really was a neat project to be a part of.

I did up a second set for PSYOP of these ACU uniform scales. On these I left them sanded to 220 grit so they are rougher and I turn most of the ACU pattern "in" toward the tang, which gives them more of a gray look. These are handmade and no two are the same, so they won't look like they were cut in a CNC machine.

WET - They dry out in about 10 minutes because the water is only on the surface, it doesn't penetrate.

Those look great. Oregon Fal'er sure does a nice job making scales. Damn.

Wow those came out nice, I tried the same with some blue jeans-fail.......gonna try some old cammies next. Hope they come out half as nice as yours.

If your not getting the results you want, keep trying. My first few sets looked like a 3rd grader did them. And not one of those genious kids either.
