I was wondering...who dramatically increased their knife collection in 2008? I have liked knives since being a kid (which was a long time ago)...never wound up buying too many because they either got lost, or someone borrowed them and never gave them back. So I would say my collection as of 1/1/2008 was prob less then 20 knives. April of this year I got the knife bug again and I have bought about 4-dozen more since then - ranging from $2-$200! I am sure I am not alone - so to make me feel better - since the beginning of the year...have you bought more knives then I..? Please tell me I am not alone in this elite group :-)

At least 40 in the $8 to $300 range. I would have to guess over $3000 for sure. YIKES

Yup, sure did. I've landed a bunch of nice scores in '08. Hopefully a few more to go. I don't even want to think about how much I've spent.

About 7 for my own collection, 11 more counting the little SAK Classics I give away. Monetarily, I'm into knives for about $210. this year. It's been lean with the move, and foster-adoption stuff.

But - we pay our car off in December, heh-heh-heh, and if I have my way about it, my house will be the center of the knife universe by about Feb. '09.

thx - cpr

In 2007 I had about half a dozen knives over the past 10 months my collection has just about doubled to a dozen and just this year i have about $1000 into knives. So to answer your question yes 2008 has been the year of knives for me.

I bought, traded and sold dozens. Mainly to pump up my Spyderco collection. I'm going to keep obtaining a few all along and keep them for who knows when? I did get a B/M 630 Skirmish, too.

I probably bought 50 knives this year so far. I will NOT BUY ANYWHERE NEAR that many next year. I am going to try to stay to one knife per month.( It probably ain't gonna work though)

Well, Jos, there was a giant sucking sound in my house a few minutes ago when I discovered that somebody makes a damascus pen! Gorgeous collection, by the way. I'm keeping my fingers crossed it is not a fountain pen, since that is my other collection mania. It's a rotten year to be a Realtor, so I may have to sell my blood if there is a nib on that puppy.

It's not a fountain pen... it's a roller ball.

Kind regards,

Jos

sorry only 3 this year
two mad dogs and a greco whisper
BUT I USED TO BE LIKE YOU buying knives hand over fist :)

I bought three of my most expensive knives this year (about $200 each).

And the year isn't done yet.

holy cow, my paycheck will be in the bank maybe 24hrs before i pick up another. ive blown probably $1300.00 on maybe 15 knives in 2008. still looking to pick up a busse ash or sebenza and possibly a S30V/G10 leek. YIKES is right!

2008 is a big year for me on knives. this past 30 days alone i bought like 6 knives. the way i'm limiting myself is to try to get around the collector aspect of it, making up excuses for myself that i need a knife for...
