Did You Feel That...??????????

I dropped my MOAB here mate. What you're feeling is the crossover ripples on the opposite side of the earth from ground zero here. Sorry about that.

You're OK. I ran this possibility in a MatLab simulation ... the crossover ripples would not focus anywhere near Mineral, VA.

Rest easy.

Jamie, stop making excuses! We know you guys have been trying to move the Earth into a new orbit! :D

(That wasn't an aftershock -- it was OldPhysics parallel-parking the planet.)

Well, if we HAD been doing something like that -- I'm sure it was for a good reason.

[Good Heavens -- I think I've just spawned 10 conspiracy theories!!]

Let me ask Charlie Mike!

AAARGGHH!! My poor head.

BTW -- the USGS tells me that after-shock I felt was pretty strong: 4.2 and at about the same location as the original shock. However it was "poorly constrained" and seems to have come from quite a bit deeper location (maybe 6 miles or so down).

That's a bigger aftershock than I expected.

I don't think any of these earthquakes are all that well constrained, or they wouldn't be earthquakes. I mean, how old is the Earth anyway? Isn't it time the old planet settled down already?

I'd guess our planet is just middle-aged. Hasn't even reached its mid-life crisis.

Maybe it's taking up new hobbies, some planetary sport?

Well, having been more or less a left coaster for all my years, I can't understand what y'all there out east are fussin' about...:D

But I wouldn't be surprised if it was OP and his bunch foolin' around...

Apparently just moments after it happened, I called one of my contacts at the Norfolk Naval Shipyard to discuss a HAZMAT question:

"Um, Rick? I will have to get back to you. We just had an earthquake here and we're evacuating the buildings. I'll call you tomorrow."

Fell right out of my chair.. I did!......... ;):D:thumbup:

Meh, earthquakes all the time in SoCal. The last larger one was pretty crazy though, one of those swaying slider quakes, where everything sways side to side.

Jeez... You West Coasters with your big earthquakes...and your rock & roll music...! ;):D:D

Well, we got higher humidity than you! ...How do ya like them apples???! :D:D:D ;) LOL

Edge of the dismal swamp, didn't even know about until I got a text later. Guess the cushy ground soaked it up

Felt it here in NY I was working on orders and all of the sudden my work bench was moving....I head up stairs and the ceiling fan is rocking and all the pictures on the wall were rattling. I assumed a tree hit my house and I didn't hear it over my 15" os cv's cranked!

I thought I felt the earth move, but realized that it was Amy's e-mail to me, telling me I scored a Pregnant Dodo Bird knife!:D

Ok... Which one of you Virginia HOGs dropped a MOAB at around 1:51pm EDT this afternoon??? :grumpy: You caused an earthquake, man!

Yeah...I felt that impact from PA.!!
Please be more careful with your INFI, yo! Jeez.... You could really do some damage with that thing!

:D:D:D

We know it was not Jaxx's pile o'INFI falling over, or it would have registered at least 20 on the richter scale :-)

It appears to be an active little planet:
