Did you get Dad a knife for FD?

Lowes gift card. But he is a 83 y.o knife hound and i will prolly give him something out of the old slippie collection too.He likes that 6347 Case stockman. The more old and beat up the better.

Well, yes, in a manner of speaking.

I am the eldest male in the family (My father having passed some 22 years ago). I bought a nice blade for the wife and kids to give me. So yes, I bought Dad a knife for Father's day.

Nope - I found a Smith & Wesson inter-frame, drop-point lockback (made in the USA) for my dad, back in November. He had one in the early 1980's, and lost it during a move to Montana. I've looked off & on for years to find it, finally did, complete with the black leather 'pull-the-dot' LEO sheath, and even the little 'pull-the-dot' instruction sheet as well.

I shipped it out to him the day I got it. The next week, the mail was running a day or two late, and I called him to see if it had gotten there. We talked for a few minutes, then the mail arrived just as we were about to hang up; I waited on the line while he opened the box. He was really happy with it to say the least.

thx - cpr

ps - found an clip point model later for myself.

I would love nothing more than to get my Dad a knife for FD, but he would not appreciate it as he is not a "knife person".

Dad's 70th birthday was last week. I gave him a Michael Morris custom skinner made from a farrier's file. He was pretty happy about it.

I have given my father knives every year but there is one pattern I have never gifted to him. When I was a wee lad the first knife Pop gave me was a Barlow, I still have that knife over 40 years later. Pop will be 77 this year....it is time he got one from me. Tomorrow he will receive this Russell in stag and a pocket clip William and Henry pouch to carry it in.

My dad has been gone for many years. I did however show my wife one online that I would like to have.:D

While on the subject though I hope that I can manage to be even half the man that Dad was. He was one of the most respected men in our community and he had earned it. God bless you dad.

SAK red Farmer; DVD: Best of the Johnny Cash tv show, 1969; wooden box painted and decorated by his grandsons. Chinese (food, not immigrant) for lunch on Father's Day.

I would, but unfortunately my dad is not into normal pocket knives like a lockback or liner. i will see if I can get him another Vic to carry, since that is what he is into.:)

I gotta remember that quote. It's priceless.

Lockbacks and liner locks are not the norm when most of the world thinks of a "normal" knife. They aren't even the norm for most of the US.

SAK's are pretty much what non-knife folks think of as a "pocket knife".

Add: for that matter, a lot of folks on this forum prefer slippies.

Yup. Same with mine. All of the things I'm into, my dad isn't. My dad's just into keeping mom happy. Nothing I can give him would make that particular chore any easier!
