Did you know that a Vic Farmer fits in an Altoids tin?

Two random thoughts:

Believe it or not Amazon is often a cheap place to pick up Vic Farmers. The prices fluctuate, so keep checking.

The flat cotton pads (check the $1.00 travel section at Target) also make great firestarters with a squirt of handsanitizer.

Thanks mate.

The PJBs looks like they could be very useful. I learned from another post that the petroleum jelly can not only be used for fire starting but also for lip balm, grease for carbon blade protection, burn or wound cover, lubricant, leather waterproofing, etc. There is probably a whole list of uses out in the field that I haven't even heard of yet.
I like to fold those flat cotton thingies into a piece of duct tape after rubbing the PJ on them. When you need them just slice the tape open and use the tip of your knife to fluff up the cotton and light. The tape burns well also. This way no greasy mess in your kit.--KV
