Just curious as to whether anyone has had bad experiences with this sort of thing. I don't know how the distributors usually handle allocating and shipping out these knives to the dealers. It turns out that this guy on ebay that was selling multiple 0452cf's doesn't actually have them yet. He is waiting for them from the vendor and put that the knife would ship within 10 days. I don't know if he just has wishful thinking that they are going to show up or what?? The thing that has me concerned is that NO ONE other than kershaw guy has received these yet. It seems very odd for an Ebay only dealer to get a shipment of these before anyone else. Does anyone have any experience with this. I've never tried to buy a popular knife as soon as it came out.

That is fishy. I assumed he ordered plenty and plan on distributing them but if he takes a while to get them then the customers are going to be waiting for a while.
I ordered one from kershawguy and it should be here tomorrow!

There have been a couple of dealers that have gotten them as of today, but I have honestly seen this before in even more reputable dealers who are outside of Ebay.

There have been several instances where I have seen a knife for sale on a dealer's website and then when you click on it to go ahead and look at the product in detail, you will see that it says that it will ship in some unreasonable amount of time like 3-6 weeks, or in other cases several months.
Though they may not openly state what that means, it is effectively the same thing as what this dealer is doing. They do not have the knives in their storage at all, but they have an order in with the manufacturer, and they expect that order to be filled in the minimum amount of time they list. The extra time they give themselves is usually in case the manufacturer fails to deliver on time for the order, or they have an issue in shipping.

Not the best of business practices, and it certainly has its risks, but the fact that people do it will likely not change anytime soon.

This thread doesn't belong in the General forum so I'm moving it to Feedback.

Buy from one of the dealers here on the forum, don't trust eBay seller you don't know, especially as this is not a limited.

You may want to contact the seller to see if he will be oiling the scales!

I will do that. Thanks for reminding me.

FYI - The ebay seller would not say that he new that the knives were in fact on there way to him. I told him to please refund my money if he did not have specific confirmation from his supplier/manufacturer that there was an actual order of the knives currently being shipped to him at the moment. He would not say there was a batch on the way, so I got a refund.

I have been looking for dealers on here that had the knife and finally found one today. I got the last zt 0452cf from rivers edge cutlery. They advertised on here today that they had some. They were an excellent company to deal with.
I called them and got the last one. They I forgot that I had to use paypal to buy it. The guy on the phone took the knife out of stock for me and then put in back in stock the instant I was ready to click the add to cart button. It was very nice of him to do that for me as he could have easily sold the knife to someone else. Oh and free two day shipping.

Just a reminder, dealers can do as they please, especially if they have no connection to Bladeforums. But Bladeforums members cannot sell knives they do not have in their possession.
