Did you really make this?

Sorry I'm not on facebook. But this doesn't look like something that a serious blacksmith would make. Why didn't you draw it out to a fine point then roll, instead of forge weld? It looks like you twisted the bottom before you rolled the top. So to me those look like clamp marks. If there is a reason for this tell me. I've only taken four classes in blacksmithing and I came up with this. Granted it's not a 1 inch piece of steel and I know it is difficult to work with thicker metal.

Sorry about having to do a link for some reason I can't post a pick from my photobucket account for some reason.
Anyways, is there something special that you've must do for this? Because if those other items you have created are actually your's what happened to this. I'm not trying to come off as mean, but if your a bladesmith. Then why does this look like something made without sense or technique?

First, I did draw it out, and then roll, and then I forge welded it because w/o the forge weld I know from experience it will vibrate on impact (causing feedback in the hands). I forged the pin in because I thought I would like how it looks - and I do.

Second, the twist at the end is made by twisting, then flattening all four sides ( I use a hydraulic press with large flat dies), and then partially untwisting - obviously all done hot. With only four classes perhaps you haven't been exposed to this technique yet, but it is fairly basic.

I'm sure as you gain more experience and are able to recognize the techniques used they'll make more sense to you.

just my two cents- i think it looks absolutly horrible and i think that the price is outrageous. youve clearly got alot of expeirence with smithing so i have no idea why you would be inspired to make something so crude.

all im asking is, do you really see yourself selling this thing, let alone for that price, to someone in a store, or in person? because if you do, then you should be off selling light switches to the amish.

not to mention the fact that your work on facebook is absolutly stunning, so i dont see why you dident put your efforts into something like those, if you were intending on seling, and not experimenting.

I love it when someone makes something unexpected, different, and, most important of all, cool. Keep up the excellent work and keep thinking outside of the box that people try to put us in. Thanks for sharing your art with us on BF.

All I can say is......that looks just down-right dangerous and if I saw someone coming towards me with it I'd: (1) scream like a little girl (2) wet my pants (3) beg for forgiveness (4) ask who the maker was!!!!
