Did your GEC knife arrive paper-cutting sharp?

Oooo! I'm sorry, but I'm afraid I have no knowledge as to the type of paper GEC specify. Shall we say newspaper, that seems pretty standard, is that fair?

Except, GEC doesn't test edges on newspaper-- if that's the standard you're after?

Of the 2 I own, both required resharpening to have a useful edge, outta the box they would tear paper, after I got done they both cleanly shaved hair with no effort.

I've owned the GEC made schrade pioneer and scout, as well as a northfield conductor. None of them arrived very sharp, and I couldn't for the life of me sharpen the conductor to my liking. I really like GECs and will pick up another one soon, but if they came reliably sharp I would own many of them.
