Diehard Kershaw guy having affair

Ah, me too. I own quiet a few spydies. BM and Spyderco is what
I would usually buy. While I still buy Spyderco, I have been buying
and building a nice selection of Kershaws.

I will always buy both. I like the companies, their products and their
employees. :thumbup::thumbup:

p.s. Yes OE and Glockman, you've been caught. Shame on you for
purchasing another nice blade.

mike

OK, now I've caught all three of you! Oh crap, I'm here too....... :D

Actually I come here to read the Kershaw section and the Spyderco section, I hit some others but read these two almost every day though I do not yet own a Spyderco knife. I will one day yet! Guess I' start with a Native and see how it goes from there!

Good first choice. My first, like a kabillion other first time Spyderco users
was a Delica. I bought it without seeing it from a friend that used to
sell blades. I really liked it but it was just too small for my hand. Then
I found the Endura. Finally ended up with a few Military models which
are to this day my favorite Spydies. I also like the "collaborations" that
they and BM did to get the 'hole' on some of BM's items like the AFCK
which is so close to the Military.

I think that Delica was around $18 NIB. Yikes, those days are gone. :(

I'd still like to see some assisted opening offerings from Sal though.
Don't get me wrong, his/their designs are top notch, but still, just
something I want.

mike

I enjoy spydies, but have never owned a Kershaw . . . yet. I will say that Tyrade certainly looks tempting!

Andy

kershaws have some really nice assisted openers, something spyderco doesnt offer as of yet.

the g10 handle kershaw speedbump and the junkyard dog2(flipper, not AO) are two of my favorite kershaws.

What the heck are you talking about sniper? You could flip that statement around on multiple fronts and be just as accurate.

I kinda expect a bit more from regular members around here, maybe that's expecting too much.:grumpy:

BTW I've been to the Cove, since when has your opinion been humble?

I'm back out, for a while no less.

I need to get more Kershaws I guess. I know the stuff you guys are putting out nowdays is pretty damn good. I bought a few Kershaws a long time ago and they were about like the Gerbers are now. I am glad to see that Kershaw is putting out top notch stuff. I went to Academy sports and outdoors today and played with a few Kershaws. What an improvement I am impressed and might just have to get a few:thumbup:. I still am a Spyderco and Benchmade guy at heart.

welcome to the "other side of the fence" OregonEdge.... ;)
Love the pix....
I like Kershaw knives as well.... the Spyker and playing with a buddy's Chive was all it took... :)
I really like this new NRG2 (Small) .... impressively "razor sharp" factory edge ....
the Sandvik 13c26 steel is A-1 with me, the Lee Williams "pseunetic" flipper is awesome......fun flippin'.... :p Here's a couple pix with my Ladybug3....

Sniper,
Kai USA has never relied on products soley made in China.
Our past is quite recognized, with the majority of our past products being produced by the best of the best in Japan. We have always put out top notch stuff.

Our quality has never been questioned, and we have always been more on the higher end of retail offerings (both fixed and folders). In fact our past and present quality are in the top tier our industry has to offer.

Now I'm unsure when "long ago" is in sniper years, but since 1998 Kershaw has won 16 Blade Show Awards including multiple "Overall Knife of the Year" honors.
We have also gathered a reputation of one of the few left that can produce quality in volume right here in the great USA .

Tyrade1-1.jpg

We have an incredible stable of makers made up of Ken Onion, RJ Martin, Lee Williams, Grant and Gavin Hawk, and Tim Galyean. Kai USA has countless industry patents, including SpeedSafe, MIM/Hip technology, Composite Blade Technology, and much more.
Our blades have been produced out of steels such as ZDP-189, ATS-34, SG2, CPM-D2, CPM-154, CPM-S30V, MIM'd 440C, CPM-S60V, CPM-3V, VG-10 and others.

Now if we get "blown away" with all that in front and behind us, then we better put our heads down and get back to work, so to find a place in your heart as well.

Most of the stuff I bought was from the early 90's. Most of the stores I prchased from must have only carried your cheaper line of products Thats why I was impressed when I messed with the Spec Bump and the Blur.

You know it's kinda funny, most my posts don't get a terrible lot of attention.... I just kinda popped over the fence for a second here to give Kudos on the Caly3 I picked up from a dealer friend. For the record... (and in a nutshell), Kershaw was my first knife when I was 16, and at almost 43 years of age I just picked up the Tyrade. They are clearly at the top of my list for very good reason. They stay there because of everything Thomas just mentioned. However, I make a few bucks on the side selling on eBay and enjoy buying selling many brands. I was impressed by this one Spyderco.

I also own a few kershaws. Not top notch but models such as the vapor, 1044, 2420 presents from my dad since I was a boy. Uncles and the whole family on the farm only uses kershaw.

I am the first to actually own a few different knives and 2 spydercos. My all time companies are Spyderco Kershaw and good all SAK.

I just wondered Thomas. My Dad use to own a kershaw with a steel handle with wood inserts or something like that. (was the first knife I cut myself with) My dad lost it in mid-late 90's but had it since the 80's about. Are these models still available?

I don't think there's any denying that Kershaw brings outstanding quality and value. Where Spyderco stands out to me against other companies in general is the ergos. I simply have not been able to find another company that has so much variety of materials, locks and models and yet have so many of those different models INCREDIBLY comfortable to hold.

OregonEdge

This is the only picture I could find. It was one of these models. This is of an old catalog I got somewhere in the house between my dad's stuff.

I think it was the middle one

I have the middle one... I just sold it on ebay. they are not available from Kershaw. Just through the aftermarket collectors

Damit. Will look out for one. Wold be nice if I could get one for my dad again or a similar model
