I just wondered what the difference is between the Buck 110 and the Buck 111?

To me they look the same. I've not seen a 111 in person only on the Internet.

They still around?

Is it just a really nice looking 110 with Ironwood?

I think all three, the 110, 111, and 560 are the same basic foot print with slight changes to the handles only (well more than slight I guess with the560 when they made it) only as the differences. They look to be the same otherwise.

What's that about? Did I miss something?

I was gonna post a picture I have on my PC of a 111 & 110 for side by side comparison, but can't figure out how. So Aaarrrrggghhhhh seemed to cover it pretty well.

I think they are having problems with the uploads here if that is how you were trying to do the pic. I haven't been able to get the manage attatchments upload to work all day.

Yup, And I wonder how do you get a large .jpg picture like I see others posting to meet the 100kb limit?

I can copy a url from the web and post a pic that way.

But..... Now I've jacked the thread.:o So see Buck Knife Collectors Group at groups.msn.com for the pic I wanted to show as an example.:)

rgoff23,

Don't worry about it. I'm certainly not worried about you "jacking" the thread. Happy 4th to you mate. ;)

The current 111 has no rear bolster.

There is no current 111 in the 2006 catalog. In 2005 Buck made a special 1000 pcs. numbered edition that looks like a full, 110 size 55 with NS bolsters, mirror blade and ironwood scales (B111-SP1-0). The old 111 was an elaborately engraved aluminum version of the 110. That one had no bolsters. I'm not sure when they discontinued making that one.

I was surprised the "new" style 110 (111) was not in this years offerings. Maybe it didn't sell well or maybe it had something to do with the move to Idaho.

There is a 111 with David Yellowhorse treatment in the 2006 Buck catalog. It is in the limited edition section.

I have a mint example of the older 111, when I used the word "current", it was to distinguish the newer 111 from the older 111, as it is the most recent Buck knife to carry that model number.

That's "pirate speak" for "ok", or an expression of normal speak frustration, or what the latest "Pirates of the Carribean" move is rated..."Arrggggghhh".

Thats a good one Buckaholic, LOL:D

To answer the original question. The 110 has straight bolster faces next to the handle inlays and the "new" 111 has radiused bolster faces against the inlays. Otherwise the knives are the same. I have eight factory variations of the "new" 111 to date and there may be more.
