I'm looking at getting one of either of these. I'm looking at either the GB Wildlife Hatchet or the Wetterlings 13" Hatchet. I have found the Wetterlings for $24 and the GB for $60. Can someone tell me the difference. They look nearly identical in shape and finish. I'm sure the manufacturing process has some differences and materials, but is it really worth nearly triple the price for GB?

By the way, I'm kinda leaning toward the GB. Buy once, cry once, right?

Thanks,

I don't have one (yet), but I hear nothing but good things about the quality of the Gransfors Bruks axes... all of them.

What I know about the GB stuff is that there's a 20 year warranty on them. Don't know about the Wetterlings. The GB stuff is also expertly handcrafted by an individual axe smith at the factory from start to finish. Again don't know about the Wetterlings.

What I've read is that you can get the Wetterlings up to the performance of the Gransfors if you want to spend about 10 hours of work on it. At my pay rate (not to mention my ineptness rate :D ), it's not worth spending the time, so I'm planning on getting a Gransfors.

Do some searches on Old Jimbo's posts (google Jimbo, wetterlings) and you'll find some info.

Thanks for the comments. i've read all of ild jimbo's site. I'm gonna go ahead and get the GB.

Thanks
