Differences

The Cold Steel costs $499.99, and the KultofAthena costs $24.95?

Did I win?:)

Seriously, there is a very good chance that the Cold Steel will hold up to hard use MUCH better than the other.

Close but not really what I was looking for. I am just poor to say the least and am looking for a decent one. Not to say that all I have is 25 bucks was just curious.

I have some old display katana's that I am sure if I were to strike a straw they would break.

What do you want to know?

Just curious if the cheaper one is just a show sword? I want something that will chop. Not something to look at. Also something that will hold an edge.

There is an old adage, that you get what you pay for.

A $25.00 sword is NOT something that I would trust.....at all. If a sword breaks, and the blade goes flying, even if if is dull, it could still kill someone or cause property damage.

If you shop carefully, you should be able to find that Cold Steel Chinese sword at around $350.00, which is a fair price for a very basic, trustworthy Chinese or Filipino made sword.

For starters, any sword with a stainless steel blade is not going to be suitable for cutting because it is brittle. Learn what the respected manufacturers are and stick to those.

Yeah. That helps. I did not see that it was stainless. Guess I read over the description to fast.

The difference is cheap Stainless steel,it's thinner, cheaper sheath, cheaper construction , cheaper edge geometry and sharpness and probably poorly heat treated.
