Different Buck Nighthawk

I assume it was an excess inventory of G-10 handles that prompted the build out on the 650/890 hybrid?

Any thoughts on this question?

Also, if you guys had to choose among my 5 knives...only one; the other having to go...which would it be and why?
Personal preference, collectability?

Well then, Flatlander, I would take the 650, but only the Haebbie 650 :D;):)

Today I went for a walk and I took my new Nighthawk with me to evaluate it a little bit. I had resharpened it before with fine sandpaper on mousepad (my favourite sharpening method). I was curious about Nighthawk's chopping ability and usability for woodwork.

IMO Nighthawk chops better than one would expect from a knife with this pointy blade. Probably due to the blade thickness. The handle still feels strange, probably my fingers are too thin, but this is not an issue. I tried to whittle a dry seasoned oak sapling and Nighthawk did well - no excessive force was necessary for whittling.

And now the most important: the steel. The steel is NOT BAD AT ALL! It is at least as good as Sandvik 12C27 and surely better than Carbon V on my Recon scout. I have done some light chopping with it and after coming home I found out that it lost just some microscopic residues of burr left after sharpening. Otherwise it was exactly as sharp as when I was leaving home. That's good, seriously!

My conclusion: Nighthawk represents a good light camping/utility knife with distinct but functional design and almost bargain price. I like it a lot.

Here are some photos:

655 is the only one in that batch I would sell IF i had to.

The others are VERY limited run knives except nighthawk that is still going but the one you have looks first gen
The Pigsticker 651 offically =300 plus over runs
the Night hawk First gen
The Strider/Hawk 890/650offically = 450
The Strider build out 890BKXSPX I am not sure I think 200 or less.
