I'm working on rehandling a No. 9 with some elk antler I picked up on a trail ride some years ago. It's a tough process for me as I have few specialized power tools that would make the job easier. In the meantime, I've modded a No. 8 with a reprofiled blade, rounded pommel, and painted handle. It's old, has the lock-open-only ring, goes back about 15 years or so. The latex paint keeps the handle very weather-resistant and less slippery in the hand. Shows up easily if I drop it.
