Different opinions on knife-collecting

All of mine are users. I like the looks of the artsy knives but could never justify getting one(esp to my wife

).
I enjoy mine for their asthetics as well as their usability.

welcome!i can not buy a knife i will not use. art knives have never appealed to me.i do appreciate their beauty, but they just don't appeal to me. a good friend of mine, who happens to be a maker, told me i am not a collector, but a "hoarder"!a collector collects as an investment, and would never use any of his knives, because this would decrease their value, yep...i definitely use 'em! i just got a kit carson model 4 from a fellow forumite that had kept the knife in pristine condition.not me, been carrying it every day

to me, that is part of the joy of owning them! actually using them!just my opinion.

A few of my Knives

I buy knives mainly because I like the look, feel, design etc. I have many that never get carried or used (Kestrel-A, Mini Socom-A, Civilian, LCC, etc.) Others I have taken out and used, esp. my CQC-7B since I wanted to evaluate the company's "#1 Hard Use Knives in the World" claim. I used it to cut up a lot of stuff, and destroy several objects, and it's now a "user" for sure. Since the '7 is one of my favorite knives, I plan to grab a satin finish, plain edge model for collecting (or rather "accumulation") purposes.
