Different thickness in Cara Cara?

I first got my plain edge Cara Cara. After being delighted with a cheaper alternative to an Endura (which I ended up getting in the end as well :p) I wanted another Cara Cara and decided to go for a Combi edge Cara Cara. To my surprise I made an interesting discovery!

My newly purchased Cara Cara combi edge from Spydieguys (Ebay) is lots thicker than my PE version! The G10 is each 1mm thicker and the whole liner+spacer+liner thickness is thicker by 1mm! Making my Combi edge a whole 3mm plus plus or 1/6 inch thicker! Noticably thicker grip! Around 25% thicker than my PE?

Alos the thickness behind the edge is also noticably thicker with my Combi edge!

Guys can you enlighten me if it's a common thing or this is a consistency issue?

PS: Love the Cara Cara, G10 with decent (IMO) beefy steel. Like a cheaper Endura!

Dunno', I have only a PE version - but you're happy with a "more knife" version, isnt' it? ;)

Edited.

I hope the :jerkit: was a mistake. And yes I'm happy with the 'more knife' version but I'm interested if this is a fluke or part of the knife's specification.

I am pretty sure that it was a mistake. When I first saw it, I just thought it was a 'smiley' rubbing it's chin in contemplation. ;)

I have a cara cara G-10 and I love the knife. Lots of knife for the $$. Nice heavy duty sharp blade. My only complaint is the pocket clip is loose and wiggles side to side. I tried tightening the screws all the way but it still wiggled around. For $20.00 I can live w/ this.

Yeah it was not written in a negative way. Though I think it looks more like a smiley polishing a stick-like object :)

Yup, for less than 20 bucks and you have a folder with thicker liners and pivot than a manix! Because of the price, it's my EDC and first choice in cutting stuff. So far the edge is quite ok but I havn't subject it to more than cardboard and paracord :)

My clips are fine but I don't normally use the clip so that may explain it's good condition. Hope it remains usable mate, hate to see a good knife go to waste because of bad clips (knife still usable but you will be less inclined to carry it is what I meant).

I use the clip on mine and aside from the scratches that inevitably happen, it's great. It still holds tight to my pants. Great knife for the money.

interesting observation....I only have a PE G-10 Cara Cara.....great knife....maybe someone "in the know" can offer some insight

I guess the thicker one is an earlier run.
Sal stated before that they skeletonized the liners to cut down weight for the G10 versions ; so i think the overal design was somewhat changed for this reason.

Ding Ding Ding!!! Just checked and my slimmer Cara Cara is with skeletonised liner compared with the thicker one which has solid liners with no holes in it (holes to reduce weight!).

I'm much happier with my fat partially serrated Cara now. The liner is thicker and without holes and it's G10 is also thicker. More knife for me buck!

Thanks Maarten.
