Digging my SnG. Some questions.

I have a series 2 SnG with the stone-washed blade. It has the more traditional pivot, not the type in a Strider AR, which I also have. I have compared the two.

As for what type of screw it is, ya' got me. When I'm sharpening, I take a lighted loupe to check the edge. I've looked at the pivot. Some days I swear it looks like Torx, some days it doesn't.

I have both types of bits, and I hate buggered up threads and fasteners.

If I had to dissemble the knife, I would try both types of bits to see which type fit solidly and deeply into the socket, with NO endshake.

Today, I see 'rounded' features in the socket flutes.

edit: I just checked the screws on the grip. While most of the scews on mine are pretty deformed, one on the grip is clearly Torx. Now, I've had a Benchmade where the pivot was one type and the grip and pocket-clip screws were another. However, logic would tell you that a manufacturer would buy screws by the pound, and ALL types would be the same. The devil's advocate in me would opine that the proper pivot screw only came in hex while the grip screws came in Torx. However, is it that big of a deal?

All this about the proper tools pre-dates mine getting smooth. In the beginning, I was going to open it up and do a number on the pivot, washers and such. But now, It's real nice.I cannot count the practice openings and the rotaion of the blade while watching TV.

I can ring finger it open real easy, in addition to the normal way. I can also do a kinetic opening into regular and reverse grip without giving it a starting open. But that I don't do really, so as not to put unnecessary strain on this thing. But it's nice to know I can do it if I need to.

But eventually, it might need some tuning up. Ergo, the tool thing.
