Anybody have any idea what would be a good camera for windows XP?I have an intel pocket pc that is worthless. It would'nt work right on windows 98 and it won't work on XP. I don't want to spend any more than I have to. I will just use it to post pictures.

There was a thread in this forum, started 12/04/2002, called "OT: Digital Cameras", which had a lot of information, as well as links where you could research.

Get a Canon D60. At US$2200.00 it's a steal. Oh yeah, you would need to buy a lens and a compact flash card for it. Budget another $800 for those.

Might be overkill for web pics though. I guess I'm just talking about what I want...

:D

2 MP is usually 1600x1200 so you won't need much more than that. Anything from Canon, Nikon, or Olympus should do. I have a 2 MP Canon A20 and it works very well for posting plus the ebay stuff.

My "Tibetan sword pics" post was shot with that camera. Images were cropped AND downsized.

Hope this helps,
Phil

I have a Sony Cybershot DSC S75 3.2 MP. :D

It's really a awesome camera.

If you're looking for your very, very VERY basic web pics then I know that Target (at least the one i work at) carries a couple real cheap dig cams starting around 40 bucks. i've had several people buy them for posting pics on e-bay and they said they work great for stuff like that. If you're looking for a full out dig cam the most popular where i work are the Cannon and Olympus models. They usually run between $150 and $300. Just a thought.

Dont forget sales, sales, sales.... Especially individual store sales that are only in certain stores that are trying to remove thier overstock. Last years model is always ridiculously cheaper than this years model, even if the only difference is the color of the darn camera. Went to CompUsa looking for a clearance sale of a 1.5 megapixal camera for about $150, saw in the store a 2.1 megapixal camera for under $100, they had two left and were phasing out the model and were just trying to get rid of em.

Canon's Elph dit cams are great too. We have a couple at the paper that we give to the reporters... hard to screw up, and the color/pic quality is fantastic!

check out www.dpreview.com for reveiws on all the digtial cameras out there.
