So, save me some time and tell me who makes the best self-winding analog watch with a smooth-sweeping second hand. :D

People have their favorites - Vacheron Constantin, Breguet, IWC, and others.

There is no "best" per se.

Leading a fairly active lifestyle, I'm pretty rough with my gear. Arguably, I'd go for quartzes first and digital second.

My "beater" for the past 5 years. Around the 4th year the rubber casing and bands cracked and had to replaced.

I'm SERIOUSLY looking at this one for dress/formal occasions but still relatively tough (oh and comparatively cheap too!) -

I have a very reliable Timex (yeah I know) expedition analog battery powered pocket watch. Last of its kind I think because it doesn't have a day/date window. God I hate those things. I can usually tell the day of the week without the help of my watch.

I went through my mechanical watch phase awhile back.
But in the end, I prefer the accuracy, toughness, and low maintenance of quartz watches.

Bruceter it is a Seiko # SNKE63. Sorry I should have put that in the picture

I have a bit of a problem with automatics my self, I defo. have more than I need :o

I have only had quartz watches. Digital ones are neat, but I really prefer the analog. Looking to get a good automatic at some point (<$600), and taking a long drooling look at the Lum-Tec watches.

You should try one of the MK2 Blackwater watches. They run around $500.

I love a nice mechanical watch, either wrist or pocket. However, lately I've been looking into some automatics, and I fell in love with the Alpha Milsub. Now, I know it's an homage watch based on the Rolex Submariner, but there's just no way I could possibly spend that much money on a watch.

I use digital because I want at least 2 alarms, date function, and day of week. I would prefer an analog but as far as I have found none have more then one alarm.

My watch has an old fashion alarm. See the marker at the top of the bezel? Move that to when your hot date is. Then occasionally look at your wrist to see when it "goes off".

I LOVE automatics myself. I have a Seiko 007 that has served me well for the last few years. Someday, if I ever have the money I would like to get one of my dream watches which are in no particular order:

Panerai Luminor
Rolex Sub (steel bracelet only, no gold)
Omega Seamaster
Kobold diver (whatever its called)

That sort of thing. But for now I am perfectly happy with my SKX007.

In reality though,....let's be honest, if I ever even have that sort of dinero I'll probably spend it on knives.

Nothing really fancy but my favorite is my traser 6500. Keeps great time. I love tritium and so far it has held up well to all types of beatings and shock including a decent amount of shooting handguns which has screwed up a few other analog watches.

Otherwise my Seiko kinetic.
