What type of firearm are you using in that pic, to bag your Dillo's?
Looks like you guys were successful!!

Hawkeye

Hawkeye, you can't go wrong with the Ruger .22!!

Is there a bag limit on them? Do they move as fast as a possum??? :D

No limit that I know of.Just shot 2 for supper.;)
They are faster than a possum, and they jump
sometimes.

Kool! Here we don't have leases,we can hunt on any land permission or not,as long as its not cultivated land ,any wooded land is fair game.Private property is still huntable, but if you are told to leave, you must obey the landowner.Land laws here are useless, can't do any QDM with others shooting up all the small bucks, nice supper by the way!

Hawkeye in my younger days around Ft. Hood we would run them down on foot, and around Huntingtom we would use my dog and a shovel when they holed up.

J.B. I will keep my eye's open for one.
Razerblades ,After people started leasing land for deer hunting
all the open hunting land dryied up .everyone wants the money.
Mkhop,Nice story,I am too slow for them now.:D
Woody, So you like that sheath.;)
Hawkeye

I would jump too if you plinked me with a .22.

That looks like good eats. No such creature in my part of the world.

First off People eat diller all over the SW and Mexico. BBQ'ed is my choice.

Just for fun FYI for forum because wildlife is my thing along with 300s.

Armadillos are one of only two animals that get leprosy. We are the other. Leprosy research center in Louisana has several swimming pool like pits they keep their research dillers in. When they mate the fertilized egg divides into threes and the young are all born the same sex. Lots of dillers would survive crossing the road but even if you run over them in a big truck their first survival instinct is to jump straight up, sometimes almost two feet. So if they would not pogo they would be passed over. Tastes like hoot owl, which tastes like chicken...300$s

That is just frickin' gross Jeff.

I thought the embryo divided into four identical babies? Three?

I stand corrected. In the 9-banded species found in U.S. that is the norm.
That's the thing about the forum no matter how wild your story somebody will get the facts right in the end. 300$s

Sorry! I wasn't being pedantic on purpose ... I thought I might have misremembered! The last time I got to bore people with the details of armadillo reproductive peculiarities is when I was discussing the types of twins and other multiples with my sister (who has identical twin sons).

It's not often that I encounter someone else that knows that armadillos are the only species (other than us) that can contract Hansen's Disease (leprosy). It's not something you tend to find on the side of a Dixie riddle cup.

Of course, armadillo knowledge is fun for getting your family members to say, "Why does he even know that?" but more importantly you never know when you'll need to impress a date with some knowledge of armadillo biology!

I used it, I caught her a few hundred thousand facts back, and now along with other facts of the natural world and misc. trivia, I try to convince her how important it is for 'US' to get just one more Buck knife. A harder sell than the other facts. Just one more today, till tomorrow that is....300$s

PS When I was a kid we threw a diller in a clear pond off the end of a dock as an experiment and it swam a little bit, sank and came most of the rest of the way back to shore walking on bottom. Sort of zero G style. But I don't think it enjoyed it.
