handles l to r. orange bone--tractor green--smooth bone--tobacco bone--frontier bone--smooth bocote--& jigged bocote.weights range from 2.5 oz. to 4.0 oz.if one notices the bolsters on the lockbacks are slightly longer.the tobacco is a 2 blade [both large blades] which makes it the heavier of the bunch.in general the liner locks in similar bone tend to be heavier than the lockbacks due to the x-tra slip of back metal to make the linerlock. i hope this comparison helps formites to understand the slight differances between these knives. i find the single blades in both models to be better for edc. the blade on the lockback opens much easier than the 73 in linerlock or w/o lock dennis

Nice phtots. Thanks Dennis.

The scales on the two models are exactly the same length. Where the lockback differs is that the end of the bolster is round instead of square. This is because the blade has a round tang instead of a square one. The #72 ends up 1/8th longer overall, and the blade is wider as well.

Thanks, DS and J-B! I guess I gotta get me a #72. I sure like that burnt orange with the swedges and threaded bolster, but I'm kinda holdin' out for burnt grizzly bone. I see they're making the #66 in that bone again, so I guess there is a chance. Only problem is I think they have only put that bone on the Tidioutes, so no swedges or lined bolsters. Maybe burnt stag is the way to go, but they just got so darn $ HIGH $.

Thanks for the pics Dennis:thumbup:

Been looking these lockbacks over for a while now. I really like that orange bone, and the stag one you posted the other day.

Do you know what the lockbacks( with bone) weigh?

Any chance you can post a pic of the lockback in-hand?

I have a W.C. Davis lockback that looks similar to this pattern & I like how it feels. I should carry it more, but I've tended to baby it since he is making fewer knives.

Good stuff to know when deciding which model to choose.
Thanks, Dennis!

That No.23 is too big for my hands, but a damn fine knife! Nice chunk of antler on that too, good grip assured.
